I have an old Eastpak backpack I've been using for the past ~10 years and I want to wrap the handle with some interesting paracord wraps.

How much paracord should I buy? Which weave would work the best? Any videos that you find helpful?

    Thanks again, EDCF!

Also, on a sidenote: The Eastpak doesn't have a water bottle pouch on the side. Is there any way that I can add one to it?

youre looking for the double cobra stitch, looks cool & cordage!...youtube will have tutorials.

easy to learn, its a simple knot repeated over and over.

I think Stormdrane is around here somewhere, but I have found his blog and videos really interesting and informative. I searched for "stormdrane handle wrap" and got at least 1 result that might be perfect for your needs, the paracord grab handle wrap. Others may work as well, but they were for handles that were more solid.

Or, if you just wanted a circular wrap you "whip" the handle. Like whipping a rope. I have this done on my school bag, and I find it more comfortable than the cobra stitch.

Here is the finished product. Its not my best work, but it was my first handle. I think next time, I am going to tie loops on either end of the handle, then start and finish the cobra braid from those. It does feel nicer now though. The handle stays rigid and curved. Its a lot easier to just grab the handle as it stays raised now.
    Here is a before picture:

And the finished handle. I was going to go with the black on top, but then decided to go with the green, just so it breaks up the color a bit and stands out.

If I end up doing one of my other bags, I will post up some more pictures.

Nice job. I think I may be looking to do this on my new bag when it arrives as well. I'm assuming you're a fellow Canuck with all those Mastercraft tools hanging on the pegboard. Looks like my workbench!

Its a nice addition to the bag. Its only the first day, but its a lot easier to grab the handle now!
Mastercraft all the way!!!! Crappy tire special! That Mastercraft bench is awesome. I got it for this past Christmas, I spend more time there now then anywhere else in the basement. I have even eaten a couple meals there....
