For the curious: my ride is a 2010 Chevy Impala purchased from Enterprise Car Rental about 7 years ago. Not the most exciting ride perhaps, but trouble free. Highway routinely hits 30+ mpg. Ignores all sorts of cross winds. Laughs at snow, both what we get here in Northern Virginia (which is basically laughable other than the inept snow plowing done here!) and on several trips up to Detroit -- my hometown.

Back in the early 90's I owned the 1100 version, Suzuki didn't make a 600 version then, it were a 750.
Great bike whatever the cc I'm sure, they are all too uncomfortable for me to ride now though, litre plus touring bikes with comfy heated seats, heated grips, stereo systems and cruise control are more my thing now. Lol

At least you can still ride. I (briefly) had a bike when I was in grad school. Woke up one morning with a lump at the base of my tail bone. Vibes from the bike had aggravated a congenital cyst that I didn't even know I had. Campus health service gave me two options. (1) have surgery to remove cyst -- and avoid lying on my back or sitting for at least a month. OR (2) sell the bike and not replace it. Guess which option I chose... ;(

Oh wow, that's a sad story, I can't imagine my life without a motorcycle, I've constantly owned/used one for 30+ years now, they are kind of in my blood I guess,....not saying that I would opt to have an operation though, that's too risky I think.

Thanks. At the time I was not at all concerned about the risk of the surgery itself. I just could not deal with being essentially immobile or greatly restricted for such a long recovery period! I was in the midst of pursuing a MS in Chemistry; could not put studies nor research on hold to say nothing of life in general on hold!

I keep what I need in my pockets, and my pockets are what get me to my truck (FJ cruiser but shopping for a GX470). the FJ has drawers in the back to store bigger versions and more stuff. a take down rifle, some ammo, solid tool kit, good med kit, etc.

My EDC bag, currently a 5.11 Rush 12 stays in my car, I'm rarely far from it. Will probably be switching to either a North Face Recon or Surge, haven't decided which as yet.

I commute using public transport or by foot, not too long way. I use a messenger bag to carry what little I need to transport between home and office, or simply no bag at all if I eat lunch at the workplace canteen.
