Where in IA? It is frigid in Dubuque
Des Moines, -11F tonight, then they start talking about wind chill.
I found it to be unavailable from time to time...
Only kidding, Karen.
even colder tonight here
I found it here http://stormdrane.blogspot.com/ on Stormdrane's blog, I was looking for information on paracord lanyards... I have been spending time between here, and CPF ever since.
:welcome: Welcome to EDC Forums, IowaWalker. Illinois walker here.
Parnass, from your avatar looks like your are a recumbent rider as well as a walker I ride (regular road bike), skate, and walk... have never tried a recumbent, but always been interested. This winter it has been hard to get out and do anything!!! Thank you for the welcome...
I just read an interesting intro and it got me thinking of how I discovered this website and realized I was EDC'ing. I always carried my EDC and didn't realize there was this sub-culture. How did you discover this website? And did you realize that your tools made you an EDC'r?
It's funny, but I was always "prepared" as a child. I guess the boy scouts will do that to a kid ! :knuppel2: I've been carrying assorted lights, knives & guns seemingly "forever" & up until this past year or so I didn't realize that there were assorted websites & forums that shared my sickness...errrr...I mean "passion" for EDC'ing
I found this site by searching for Atwood tools and by reading this forum I realized that I am an EDC'er. Like WolfAmmo, I was also a boyscout so I guess that was where it started.
It was weird how I came along this website. I was looking up the SureFire Porcupine and stumbled across the TAD Gear website, looked a bit further by looking up everyday gadgets and tools. By chance, came across the term EDC, THEN EDCForums.com and found kindred spirits.
I've always carried a penlight, SAK knockoff, a GI Joe Action Figure, and rubber bands as a kid. I really don't know why but I did. I took a job with FedEx and modified my pockets with useful real-world stuff.
Since I discovered this website, my EDC didn't upgrade it MUTATED into something bigger and better!
I really do not recall how I found this forum. Life Scout back in the 60's
I only joined this forum a few days ago..
I found it maybe a week earlier and have spent a few nights reading past posts
I think I was looking up some kind of gear as we were getting a County Comm order together, and i stumbled across this chat while looking for reviews
I only give myself so much time to chat, I run my own gun board, then I keep tabs on my hobbies via a few other boards..
so after finding this one, I dropped a local shooting chat I used to frequent.. it was not a tough decision to leave that one, in fact I only chatted there since a better option hadn't become known to me
The switch to this one was easy since this one is full of decent members (from what I've seen) and the topics are of great interest to me
I'm a scout too, I suspect many of us are..
so maybe that is why the members here are helpful, friendly, courteous., kind, etc
I'm glad I found it, I'm learning a lot so far and looking forward to more
i was searching for a new multi tool and one of the searches netted this site somehow... there's a lot of people who aren't consious of what they carry daily.
I've alway's carried what i call "my gear" but never thought bout it really. Only difference is i look at it in more of a utilitarian aspect instead of a bag of stuff.
Now my gear is thought of as... tool, first aid, snack, entertainment preparedness.
Everyone is an EDC'er to some degree.
Like the OP, I'd always carried my EDC, but didn't even realize it was called that... or that there was an entire sub-culture revolving around it. Scouts got me started on preparedness, like many; I found EDCF itself through a mentioning of the term (that led me to a Google search which got me to the forums) when I was searching around for a laptop backpack.

I came here from CPF.
I found a link on the ETS Forums and followed it here.
