Sounds counterintuitive, but try wool. A lightweight icebreaker tshirt of merino wool is very cooling. I didn’t believe it myself until I took someone else’s advice and tried it.

I wear Uniqlo Airism, been wearing one all day in the sun and still feel crisp.

I usually end up buying Fjällräven when I'm looking for a new shirt.
They used to have a wide range of shirts ranging from high wicking poly-something to wool and G-1000 (windproof poly/cotton).
Seems like they have reduced their range somewhat, but you should still find something, e.g. this one:
    https://www.fjallraven.us/collections/mens-button-ups/products/high-coast-shirt-ls?variant=686946648080

I choose Fjällräven because they fit me well. If your body fits inside a Patagonia shirt, they have (or used to have) a range of organic cotton shirts that is by far the most comfortable and breathable I've ever had.

Maybe too fishy for you, but I love my Columbia shirts with their omni-wick and omin-shade fabric...

I second this. I guess it depends on what you need them for. Just kicking around on the weekend these are my choice. I haven't worn the shirt @ghuns linked but Columbia makes some nice breathable stuff.

Wrangler has a hot weather shirt. The tag on mine is faded so I can't read more than just the "Wrangler" logo. Dries quick and keeps my comfortable I third the notion for Columbia. I have a long sleeve shirt from there that I'll roll up as needed. Comfortable as well.

I've got a bunch of those shirts, I don't understand why he doesn't like fishing shirts, most of the public doesn't even know what a fishing style shirt is. And the vents are practical and cool after all, at least to me.

So I’ve had Royal Robbins in past,It lasted two years at most.Have LAPD shirts now,Cut really weird, Real tight in shoulders,And they smell bad and don’t breathe.Don’t want to spend 75 or 100 on a shirt.Think a blend fabric will be best. Its the Humidity that’s the problem!!

I'll have to give these a try. I love their Airism undershirts (which run large) and their Airism boxers (which run small). I haven't tried their other clothes.

I'll be testing one my Columbia shirts tomorrow. 95 degrees with a heat index of 110. Riding around downtown Indianapolis on one of these...

You don't really have to pedal, it's motorized, but it's still gonna be miserable.

Thanks for the clarification. I have and really like a couple different brands, including the Columbia shown, but never knew they were considered fishing shirts. I always just considered them good versatile travel shirts.
