I'm trying to find a knife for crass-draw horizontal belt carry. Mostly for EDC tasks (cutting paper, boxes, rope, small twigs, etc) rather than self-defense (no push daggers or "claws"). Blade should be 2 inches(cutting surface) or less. I would prefer non-tactical look. Handle should be as short as possible or interrelated (aka Brous Silent Soldier.) I like flat or convex grind. Drop-point . US made preferred. Custom ok. No Chinese.
I'm also thinking of a custom kidex sheath covering most of the knife and handle. Has anyone tried gluing thin leather over kydex for "less tactical"look?
    Any recommendations?

    An Esee Izula maybe?

If you looking to get a sheath made, Charlie Mike and Kiah from bladeforums do kydex sheaths
I know Charlie Mike does leather over kydex

    +1 CM

He's a cool dude and lives less than 2 miles from me. I own one of his leather covered kydex sheaths. It has the best of both worlds: rigidity of kydex and slickness of leather.

Izula is way too big. Candiru looks interesting.

I've been cross draw carrying this Benchmade Activator for a while and it works great...

Look for a 210 TK so it comes with the Kydex sheath, then just add the TecLoc to it.

What about the Brous Silent Soldier that you mentioned. I think that would totally fit the bill. Is there something about it you don't like so we could help narrow down choices?

Have you thought about anything from BRKT? I have both a Mikro Canadian, 1.75" edge length and also a PSK with a 2.175" edge length. The Mikro came with a leather belt sheath and the PSK came with a leather pocket sheath. They're both convex ground drop point, made in America and are not tactical looking. That's the only BRKT's that I own but they make really nice looking knives with a large selection of handle materials and designs. They have a couple other smaller knives with similar dimensions but I like the Mikro Canadian the best.

I have a bunch of Barkies including a PSK. PSK has a 2+ inch blade and a 3 inch handle. I would like something with less “wasted space.” Silent Soldier has a 2.25 inch blade and is only 4.25 inches long. Jason’s creation is almost perfect. However, current drop point only comes with black coating. A bit too tactical.

Man, I miss my Snody Activator so bad. I sold it here in the BST forum a couple of years ago and really regret it. I bet it's a winner in that horizontal kydex!

+1 on the Brous SS v2.
It comes with a belt clip installed on the excellent kydex sheath and is oriented for horizontal belt carry.

There are a couple satin finished SS v2's out there...

...but yt is the only place I've seen them and unfortunately doesn't show up on Brous' site.

How about the Ranger? 5.2" over all with a 2.5" blade in satin and comes with a belt clip.
