I am looking for a backup light to augment my primary light. It needs to be 123a, and needs to be small. ANy suggestions for high-output and overall good options?

Led Lenser F1 400 lumen IPX8 type3 anodised. Though small light with great output. Only downside is no rechargeables. But as a backup that should be no issue:D

I own all of the following 1xCR123a lights-

    Romisen RC-C3 II NW
    Romisen RC-A4 x Q5
    2-Solarforce L2m (purchased as shorties)
    2- 2012 SF L2m (purchased w/ the extension tube)
    Ultrafire WF-501A
    3- Olight i1 EOS
    Sunwayman C10R Cree XM-L U2 5-Mode
    Sunwayman M11R Cree XM-L U2 6-Mode in desert yellow
    See post #9

Given my limited collection, I'd say that the SWM M11 is best of breed in this category. The Olight i1EOS is a tremendous value. If I could keep just one, it would probably be it. Moreover, it as scarcely bigger than the battery. The L2m is great, if like me, you prefer P60 lights as your goto EDC. Plus, you can have variety without needing a whole need light. The Romisens were hot rodded by Shiningbeam and offer a lot of light for less than $15.

I'm sure others will chime in with the Surefire this or 4/7s that, and while they produce fine flashlights, I offer this one thought/question just as grist for the mill- given the same amount of money, would you rather have one light or four?

SureFire E1B - less lumens than the newer EB1, but flatter regulation, and not too difficult to find in excellent condition under $100....

Obviously a person with good taste.:)

You're only saying that because he agrees with you.

    A few suggestions;

Surefire E1b, or EB1 with the tactical tail cap.

    Malkoff MDC

If you can find a used one for sale; HDS Systems Rotary or Clickie, or an Olight V10R (pick up the AA extender as well for more flexibility)

Eagletac D25C Clicky or if you are serious an HDS which is the best really.

As for really tiny and bright, I like the Fenix E15 on my Keychain,it is tough to beat for the size and I keep trying too!

I also really like a Peak Logan and any Surefire but there are just so many great 123 lights it is hard to narrow the choices down.

That's odd, I wish they would offer them in FDE and OD. But hey, I wish every flashlight was available in an earth tone.

I would go with a Foursevens MiNi123. Goinggear has some of the XM-L versions (old 4Sevens stock) on sale for $29. It's not 400 lumens but it's small and easy to use. Frankly, anyone who says they are pushing much more than 300 lumens on a single primary is full of it.

I get like 4,567,234 to the 11th power lumens out of my L2m and a bone stock Ultrafire drop in with a half dead battery.
    Hehehehe, that's so not true.

hmm. lots of choices to look through.

This light will be replacing the 5.11 L1 that was stolen along with everything else in my MOAB 10 last week.
