Personally, I enjoy the indulgence: If you don't own a house, or real estate, or a fancy car, there can be great consolation in owning the nicest lighter you can afford. Heck, I don't smoke, and I've never been camping--yet I now own four lighters and a fire-starter...

My point exactly. It feels nice to have something quality made in your pocket. Whether a lighter or knife. The nicest isn't always even as a practical but when it is(in the case of this lighter) it's oh so sweet.

    LOL, cheers.

btw now up to 28 days days of solid use and i still haven't had to open the reserve tank. It needs to run out soon, so i can start using one of my two new lighters.

You mentioned you're an occasional pipe smoker - how do you find the Douglas for lighting pipes? I've been eyeing one for a while, currently use a zippo with pipe insert but run into all the usual zippo problems.

Well it's definitely not as effective at lighting as the zippo pipe insert. However, I have no problems doing it. I tilt the pipe and the lighter over to meet each other and no problems.

Here's what the OP asked for: "I am looking for a high quality refillable lighter. It's very important for me that the lighter will work after a long time without use."

And here's what I came up with:

High quality: check (lasted 100 years and still functional)

Refillable: check (just add more matches)

Works after long time without use: check (A hundred years ... Yep, that's pretty long. The matches in this World War I German lighter will still light ... as long as I keep'em dry.)

Added value: Only two moving parts (the match case's drawer and the matches).

Man, I might have to start making these and selling them online ... with a little marketing I could sell a ga-zillion!

That's actually pretty nice. Offer it in Ti and with a sealable / waterproof door and i'd probably buy one or two :).

Wow, my first pre-order and I haven't even started advertising yet. Yes, Titanium and maybe a tritium insert ... so you can find it in the dark.

You know me soo well! make it a nice matt / bead blasted finish if you don't mind.

Although you'll probably just have to bore out the slot / hole for the tritium, as i know your postal service are a bit funny about tritium and i'm not sure how happy they'd be to post it overseas (or how happy UK customs would be about receiving it).

lol i'm ok with no molle, i can always make a little pouch for it. But if it's included in the price, i'm not gonna complain :D.

Although i think we may have gone somewhat off topic.

I'm looking at a Colibri Wellington. I want an ST Dupont. Does anybody have experience with the former and should I wait and save for the latter?

I am ordering an ST Dupont ligne 2 in the morning from a dealer that guarantees same day shipping. I am in Arizona so I will have it before weeks end. Now all I need is to have our favorite Bavarian photographer come over and take and post some pics for me ;-)

    Those things are SO pretty.

I'm sure I'll buy one eventually. But, I quit smoking, so I don't use them as much as I used to and just can't justify it.

I hate throwing away bics, but it only happens every few years now (instead of every week or so).
