    Hi,
i am looking for a high quality refillable lighter. It's very important for me that the lighter will work after a long time without use.
    Can somebody help me?

You could always get a butane insert for a zippo, either soft flame or jet flame.

I just ordered an electric lighter, suppose to be durable and reliable. They also make these plasma lighters, called the plazmatic. It emits a purple spark/plasma, looks neat but not sure how reliable. It suppose to have no parts that degrade like heating coils or gas release lighters or something, they're not cheap.

Windmill makes bomb-proof lighters. They are butane lighters with piezo-electric switches and seal up like a vault.

They are very reliable, but have been reported to suffer at high altitudes (think mountain climbing) or when very cold.

Ultimate Survival Technologies also make similar lighters, but I am not sure of their quality. they may be knock-offs or they may have some affiliation.

I use a zippo with a soft flame butane insert.

Is size an issue for you? If not there are many options. As mentioned, the plasma lighters are very cool but also expensive. Butane is probably your best option since its readily available.

I got an electric simply because it can be charged via USB via solar panel, and never needs fuel or flint. In some videos, it easily lit paper on fire unlike traditional electric lighters.

IIRC a Douglass Field S is supposed to be watertight and should hold the fuel for a long time. It’s not cheap, but stylish if you like machined metal. There are other models from this brand, too.
I’ve wanted a Porsche Design PD6, but that’s even more expensive. So I didn’t buy either of them.

Bic is the best lighter out there, lighter (weight :)) than any Zippo, less bulkier than any Zippo, cheaper than any Zippo and even any Zippo fuel, happened to me to found one on a grape farm, cleaned with water, started working, who knows how much time it spent buried in a couple of cm. in the soil, but worked just fine.
The only battle it loses with a Zippo is the wind resistance.

Thanks to Brtsmpsn I have a Field S and have been meaning to review it. Short version for now, it's amazing, I've been purposely knocking it about and dunking it in stuff, using it in high winds etc. Taking it camping next week.

Have you ever seen a Bic lighter exposure test made by BlackOwlOutdoors (at Youtube) ? It performed so [Rule 2 violation removed] well...

Content removed. The use of asterisks is tantamount to using an abbreviation. Rule 2, LANGUAGE, in part: "This guideline also applies to acronyms and abbreviations, which, if spelled out completely, would contain the same questionable content."

The Field S or the PD6? Completely different style, but both very nice in my opinion. :)

+1 for the Douglass Field S lighter. They're made in Japan (top-notch quality). My all-brass one rides in the coin pocket of my jeans.

Brunton makes a bomb proof lighter that holds fluid for a very long time.
Edit. I tried to find the model that I have and it looks that Brunton does not make that (or any) lighter anymore.
