That scale looks great! I thought I was happy with the factory green G-10, and now this comes along!

I have not had my Cuscadi DPX HEST folder scale for very long but have had my Cuscadi Benchmade RSK Griptillian scales for quite some time. I think you have already seen it in earlier in my EDC thread. They are the same material, namely black canvas micarta. I really like the qualities of that material. So far all great with the Cuscadi HEST scale. Hope it works out for you too.:)
The original scale is good and my change was more of a first world problem and just personal preference.

I've really lied what I have seen from them. I don't even have a Spyderco Techno yet, but I'm already looking at the carbon fiber back spacer that they make for it!

Thanks mister S. Yes it is a Steve Ku - Veleno Designs Tritium lantern.
Like all of the stuff I've had from SK, the quality is excellent.
Wherever possible, I use descriptions from product invoices or similar. In this case Steve calls them locators.

HF's DPX HEST 2 Folder Clip Mod
I didn't like the longish stainless steel pocket clip that came standard.
My answer was to get a generic Titanium clip from USAKnifemakers and use that to fashion a much shorter lighter and comfortable one.
The trickiest part for me was the need to heat the 6AL4V Titanium alloy as the 90° bends would break at room temperature.
This is the first fit-up for trial use. It seems robust and with a slightly adjusted tip it mouthes the pocket without catching on the clip lip.
It still needs some finishing so will probably try a stone wash to get it closer to the frame locking scale.
As shown in one of the pics the leftover cutoff original hole attachment was used as a spreader beam for TEC P-7 Clip hanging onto a Quantum DD with spare battery case.

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen.
Whilst on my soap box, might just add that IMHO the HEST folder handle with stock clip feels very much bigger and less comfortable than without. Actually it is a great ergonomic handle shape without that stock clip.
The custom smaller clip makes it feel much closer to the bare handle comfort and overall size.

I feel the same way. I like the way the stock clip holds the knife in the pocket, I feel like with extended use it would develop hot spots.

    HF's Needler 211213
    [IMG]
This is my micro Kiridashi of sorts.
It was named the "Needler" by it's maker, one Mr Elliot Williamson (Ferrum Forge).
I primarily bought it because of its material. It is made of SM-100 (Nitonol 60 ~ Ni 60% & Ti 40%) which has zero Iron content.
It is super small and so only suitable for light detailed cutting tasks. I formed a super rudimentary handle out of Californian pepper-wood, because it conveniently grows in my backyard, that allows me to crank quite a bit more force onto the edge.
So far it has proved to be a neat little tool.

HF's Cu Damascus Bead Brief 221213
It started as my first go at a twisted pair wrap of (Ø is 0.088" ~ 2.25mm) copper wire.
Not happy with the form so thought about making a better jig and file this one under bin if no idea followed. The therapeutic idea was to enjoy beating the copper and this is what happened.
This showed some promise but was not without problems. It wasn't flimsy but neither too robust and the core was bighty on paracord. bleh & boyo17 made interesting suggestions to use solder and maybe even form a rough Damascus material. Sounded great.
I tried some conventional solder and also some Silver solder. Former filled well but didn't give much strength. Latter gave strength but cohesive fusion meant it didn't fill voids effectively. So after some brief testing with smaller beads I tried Silver solder.
Texture too rough and inconsistent. The result was pretty negative so after almost giving up the ghost, I tried filling the remaining voids with conventional solder. Filled the core with Devcon® Aluminium epoxy and later drilled for a more paracord friendly bore. Parted the piece into a more practical bead pair, chamfered, deburred and polished. They could do with a bit more finishing but they are already users …

P.S. HEST 2 folder custom Ti clip included in pic for my reference before stone washing.
