Hi guys, I'm a resident of Tennessee and I'm... a prepper. I started prepping a few years ago. I guess I've always been the guy that kept extra batteries around, carried a good knife, and made sure I had a snack and some water before I left the house. I didn't take it seriously until I went to a meeting at our local chamber of commerce. The guest that day was a person with FEMA who told us about the Wolf Creek Dam. I had never even heard of it before. She explained that the US Army Corps of Engineers had announced that the Dam was leaking and in immediate danger of failing. She showed us a map of the areas of our town that would be flooded. My house stood right in the red zone. She explained that it would mean a collapse of many services we take for granted such as water, sewage, and electricity. Like a domino effect it would strain or overwhelm other services too like the Fire/EMS and Police. Even though Wolf Creek Dam is repaired I began to fast track my plans and one of those was making sure that I always carried a few things with me every day. Since you never know when an emergency will happen and I'd rather be prepared. I've really enjoyed the site so far and look forward to learning more. I love looking at other people's EDC stuff for ideas and ways to improve my own.
