Decisions, decisions, I always buy a knife or two this time of year after a Christmas bonus and Christmas money.

The three knives that I am looking at are:

    Zero Tolerance 0566
Spyderco Sage 3 with carbon fiber scales
    Cold Steel Recon 1

I can probably get two knives, but not three.
    What combination would you pick?

Am I overlooking a knife that you think is better than these?

Definitely the Sage! I have one and love it. Highly recommended.

By the way, did you find a place that makes CF scales for the 3? Where is that?

Spyderco is changing the sage 3 to have carbon fiber scales rather than the blue g-10. I found a reputable site that has the Sage 3 with carbon fiber scales already in stock.

Cool! Can you PM me with the place? Thanks!

If I had the disposable income I would go for the ZT.

    #1 ZT 0566
    #2 Sage 3

I have the ZT 0566 and am impressed to say the least.
I don't have one but Sage 3 w/cf scales is awesome. I have the Gayle Bradley on the way. Love that carbon fiber, and it's a workhorse.
The 566 and Sage can be had for a reasonable price, and you get a lot of knife.

The Spyderco is mighty fine. Maybe sub it in for the Sage and Recon?

Of the three, definitely the Spyderco and the ZT. Another option might be to combine the funds and get something nicer…

Spyderco Southard/Techno/Domino/Gayle Bradley, ZT 0560/0561, Emerson CQC-8/Horseman/Roadhouse, Bradley Alias, Lionsteel SR-series, Benchmade 755-MPR/940/810, Hogue EX-series…

Zt and the sage. Though I'm not a spyderco fan, I recognize that they put out great blades and even have a techno on the way.

    Definitely ZT and Sage.

I would also recommend the Southard and Manix2 from Spyderco. Lots of other knives I just can't think of off the top of my head as well! ;)

I support this! That would put you up in the Domino range, which I desperately want! ;)
As well as Striders, which are amazing knives high on my bucket list.

Not sure why but cold steel doesn't turn my gears. My vote is for the spyderco and zt

I would say Spyderco and ZT, however I would opt for the 0770 instead of the 0566.

Ligher weight, for me that's a plus. I like the aesthetics a little better as well. Mostly personal preference reasons when it comes down to it. Nothing wrong with the 0566 though if you don't mind the weight.

I wanted to like the 0770 but when I held it I didn't like the flipper, my finger slipped off it too many times without it opening. I still love how it looks and the weight but it didn't inspire much confidence in me.
