Hello all, hk2001 here. a.k.a Justin.

I'm a 28 yo father, and I've been an EDC addict since I was a scout (20+years). Always having at the bare minimum (then) a minimag and a SAK with me at all times.
Since then it's morphed so my wife calls me her "Swiss Army Husband"

Recently laid off :brickwall:  so you'll see me a lot here.

Here's a basic rundown of what I carry at all times.

    CRKT M16
    a SAK climber
a flashlight (one of many makes, although 123 Lithiums are now drawered, can't pop 25 bucks a month on batteries anymore.)
a blastmatch with a travel sized container of vasoline/cotton
and about 40' of Paracord I made into a belt, using the same stitch I see people making bracelets with.

These all sit in a fanny pack I have, and go everywhere with me.
I carry a lot of items in the winter, and they typically sit in camelbak cloudwalker. Just the basics, thermals, hothands, etc

I have a few questions about gear, but I'll throw those where they belong.

    Greetings Friend,

You sound a lot like me. Unfortunatly, even the laid-off part
Sounds like You have a nice kit assembled. Kudos. O0

I agree about the 123 lights as well. I own ONE, and have not bought batts for it in about three years.
    Awesome lights, but sheeeeesh!!!

Hey Justin, good to see you here, you'll find a lot of like minded people here!

One quick note about the cr123 batteries - i can't speak for America, but over here in the UK they're FAR more expensive in stores than they are online, especially from specialist stores and Chinese export companies. I tend to just order quite a few at once and they don't work out to be too expensive.

Welcome, hk2001. To reflect on what Tinyblob said, yes, if you have 123s or other specialty cells, order online. While retail stores may run $6-12 per cell, purchasing online can knock the cell cost down to maybe $1-2. Just, if you do, make certain you purchase USA or Japanese branded cells. <-- paraphrased from Carrot's online guide for flashlights/batteries. :)

on the CR123s, I've got an LLbean 10 minutes away, box of 12(?) surefire, $20 (after a friend's mall discount), that's $1.60 per not to shabby. But on that note, my mother does ordering for her office, I can drop my own money and get the "bulk" prices on energizer industrial AAA - thru - D.
My wife has a 2 "c" cell mag light in her car, and batt's for that cost me $2 for 12.
Most of my EDC and camping gear I've finally standardized to AAA, and a box of 12 packs of 4 (48 batts) cost a grand total of :woohoo: $2

Currently what I'm carrying is a brinkman (no laughing) 3 watt, 3x AAA. Lasts about as long as my surefire and for the price of the torch and the batts it'll last me a while.
I'd love to mod it, have no idea where to start tho.

    thanks for all the input,
    :bomb: -HK
