Listen to some metal... Opeth is pretty fn great. Apocoliptica or however they spell it is pretty sweet too.
I saw Iron Maiden with Quiet Riot opening, if you can believe that one! I think that was October of 1983. A lifetime ago.

I mentioned earlier that Municipal Waste, Exhumed, and Napalm Death are playing "near" me on Friday and I got my friend to go with me so I can't wait! Farthest I've driven to a show at around 2 and a half hours but with MW and Exhumed playing, it's well worth it. Also hope to see Dethklok and The Black Dahlia Murder in November plus like four other concerts I'd like to go to up until mid January
One of the craziest shows I ever went to was S.O.D. Labelled Sergeant D's last stand at The Ritz. Morbid Angel and Agnostic Front opened.
I still love a lot of the 80's thrash and speed metal bands I got into in my teens back then. That and hardcore bands make up a big part of my musical tastes. Have been very lucky to see many of the bands live over the past 20+ years. One of the perks of living in NYC is alot of acts come here.
I don't know if y'all would call this metal or not, but these days I'm really digging The Sword. Going to see them next week.
thread is about Metal, not garbage (and the band Garbage aint metal either) Its interesting to read what some of you consider metal (Misfits? hardly), but its all opinion I guess Im more into metalcore stuff like If Hope Dies or Glass Casket or Zao etc Lately: the new Between the Buried And Me (and the old stuff too) and Unearth and Prayer For Cleansing and Undying ("This Day All Gods Die"....holy crap is great)
The misfits aren't metal but they rule. I keep wanting to stray from metal too, black flag or the dead Kennedy's anyone?
well just got back from seeing Exhumed, Municipal Waste, and Napalm Death last night and man.. was that awesome! my friend and I got guitar picks from Ryan of Municipal Waste
Motorhead are the ultimate for me, so much so I have their logo tattooed on my chest, system of a down a close second
I introduced the missus to the music of Mercyful Fate.....hmm. not so keen. Maybe you had to be there? I got the new Ash Borer and Behexen albums yesterday. Brutal stuff. Excellent. Looking forward to the new Cradle of Filth too. I stopped being a huge fan after 'Cruelty and the Beast', but kept buying their stuff. I'm liking the preview tracks so far.
im not denying that they're really great (though the early recordings are hard for me to listen to since production is garbage), but they just aint metal.
Haven't posted on here in a while but I've just got to on this thread! Been to see too many to mention and I'll embarrass myself by forgetting but on my iPhone at the moment are: Metallica (a lot!) Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Megadeth and then a bit of glam to cheer me up: Def Leppard Poison Steel Panther Motley Crue and some more. Obviously quite a few EDCers into metal! When I was at Donington last year, a couple of guys stopped me and asked to take a look at my Maxped Mongo because they were thinking of 'upgrading' their Jumbos - bizarre conversation to be having with a mosh pit not far away!
