I like disturbed but to me dont seem like metal. I was aiming more for death metal. Anyone heard of wintersun? I found them on itunes and they are pretty darn good.

A buncha sick bastages on this thread here....yeah, we got 'em. I salute you. P.S. If you ever get a chance to see a sick cross-dressing band outta Detroit called Trash Brats....
http://www.lastfm.de/user/Metalitzi There you go. Information on my taste in music couldn't be more detailed Obviously, I listen do Death Metal of pretty much all sorts for the most part but also do have quite an interest in other genres. I am also an Alter Bridge fanboy and like a lot of "softer" music like Sólstafir, aforementioned Alter Bridge, Tool and so on.
Avenged Sevenfold Bullet for my Valentine Seasons After Volbeat Not really all metal, but some of my current favorites.
Wow this is an old thread. I had totally forgotten about it. Here's some of my favorites right now. Metallica Overkill Kreator Testament Slayer Evile Anthrax Death Five Finger Death Punch Korn Theres alot of bands I like a little bit from. And I'm always looking for more to get. I just don't usually have a lot of extra cash I want to spend on it. I have expensive taste in knives. I am especially looking for more Death metal to get but I dont like most bands as much as Death. They tend to be faster than most other death metal bands. I'm not so into the slower death, probably because I like thrash so much.
wait....are you saying the band "death" tends to be faster than most other death metal bands? if im understanding you correctly......i think you might have just been listening to the wrong deathmetal bands.....or something. I havent listened to a whole lot of death, but a quick refresher has me finding stuff on youtube that i would call on the slower side of deathmetal a LOT of the death metal out there is around this pace: .........thats faster that thrash. it isnt deathmetal if its isnt fast, really. I mean, if its "slow" then it falls into some other metal-sub-genre imo
Hey now this is my kind of thread I picked up the new Dethalbum today! Also got a Rotten Sound CD in the mail. grind, thrash, and death metal primarily lets see.. favorite bands: The Black Dahlia Murder Municipal Waste The Faceless Exhumed Cattle Decapitation Warbringer Toxic Holocaust Despise You Magrudergrind Agoraphobic Nosebleed Cannibal Corpse of course. Basically if it's really fast and makes your ears bleed I'll probably listen to it!
^ What he said! plus 3 Inches of blood Xentrix Gamabomb Overkill Bonded by blood Exodus Whiplash Gammacide Anthrax Hyades GWAR As I lay dying (older albums) Shadows fall (War within and earlier) Lamb of god Laaz rockit Pitiful reign Sacred reich Slayer Megadeth Atrophy Hexen Sepultura Obituary Entombed
no no, dont wake up.....ill just leave this right here...... havent checked to see what these guys call themselves, but i would called it blackened-deathmetal. one more
A friend of mine has a Slayer cover band called Show No Mercy. They play on Long Island and NYC a lot. I don't listen to much "Heavy" music, but they are well regarded and if anyone of you guys can support, much appreciated. The "Heavy" music I do like is Faith No More, System of a Down, Rage, yes I am old.
i think they're generally considered technical death metal. i was really bummed when they didnt play at summer slaughter last year but i still got a shirt from them. next time... next time..
Hmm. Really slow metal would be called Sludge or Doom metal I believe. Ive sampled some Morbid Angel, Nile and Obituary. To me it sounds heavier but slower than thrash. Maybe the newer stuff is faster. I have a 25 dollar Itunes card so Ill listen to some of the stuff in this thread. Im thinking Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth.
I hear you on the thrash speed thing. I've gravitated from just death metal to a lot of thrash and grind. The faster the better!
death should be faster than thrash most of the time. i associate death metal with being the fastest and most brutal of any kind of metal ive ever sampled. and i spend a LOT of time searching for new stuff: amazon is your friend for sampling music. type in one band you like or one from this thread. listen to the 30 second samples, then look halfway down the page for the related albums. you can get lost in a sea of related musicians/albums. i discover tons of new stuff this way. also, use youtube in a similar fashion. ive discovered lots of stuff that way too I also use google to look up death metal releases by year, find a list of albums from a certain year, then go about sampling them from amazon or youtube.....once i find something i like, i attain it!
Post metal is where it's at. Along with those, I like a lot of Insomnium and Agalloch. Also: Demon Hunter, Dark Tranquility, Tourniquet, and Opeth
