IMHO if you use Eneloops in a battery pack, you might as well just use the standard rechargeable battery. Having alkalines or lithiums as a backup is great, but if you're using rechargeable batteries in place of a rechargeable battery pack, I honestly don't see much benefit. At the end of the day, it's your choice though.
Except that if you use Eneloops and then need quick replacements you can then stick standard AA in there which you can not do with the factory pack usually.
But I certainly agree in principle with what you said.
