I've been into EDC most of my life having grown up in rural WV, although the notion of EDC as a "thing" with a name wasn't on my radar until a few years ago. I just assumed it was something most people did and figured nobody cared what I had in my pockets. Having lurked on various forums for a long while it's obvious folks are indeed curious, and it can be (sorry, is) an addictive way to learn about gear and be part of the larger community. I've certainly been tempted over the past year to spend money on gear faster than I can make it, but I try to have some will power when it comes to my EDC. If the basics are covered and nothing is broken, it's hard to justify buying the latest and greatest neat thing (function over form and all that). What I carry isn't fancy and doesn't change often, but it gets the job done. So anyway, that's me and it's nice to be here.
