I've only just come across this forum, and was not really aware of the terms EDC or BOB until a few months ago, when reviewing my bushfire evacuation kit. Had a "glancing blow" with the fires in Canberra in 2003, and appreciate that we were very lucky that there wasn't more destruction (500 houses destroyed), disruption (a number of days without utilities), or more than five deaths. Seeking to apply my military training and experience to "my" BOB (which I am also trying to use every two- three days for a walk around the local "park" - about 8km / 5 miles of quite rough roads). Enjoying a 5.11 Rush 72 pack (upgraded from a Rush 24 pack last week), contents of which I am still fine tuning. Current project is refining contents of a 6.6 medical pouch - I want to be able to deal with snake / spider bites more than gunshots; and being able to better deal with "ash clouds" (was coughing up carbon for months after the 2003 fires). ...and despite some schooling in the United States, I use words like "grey", "colour", and "tomato sauce".
