Yeah I saw that on their site. However, I don't have a problem waiting for them to break in. That's part of the fun of owning a new bag haha. Side note: does anyone have a time frame for how long it takes to break the bag in?

Just a quick update. So far I'm really enjoying the pack. I'm not sure how but the bag carries very evenly. My Recon bag was sort of awkward to carry. The weight was never distributed evenly for some reason. With the GR1 it is surprisingly even. I actually look forward to putting the bag on every morning when heading to work. I can't wait to see what happens when I break it in all the way.

If they bring back the 1st gen in both 10/15, or a 15 2nd Gen. I'm looking to get a backup set, nothing else I have tried works with my system to have just enough space to carry what I need....

Correct! And to be honest I prefer the softer 500D as I feel it softer and more stretchable; small bag that can take a lot, this one's got the back compartment and I can shove a light fall jacket in it!

I got it in '15 from govx.com. Just a standard 21oz Hydroflask but was a limited edition. Part of the profits went towards the SEAL Legacy Foundation.

So I bought the bottle holder for my Goruck. I acquired it as more of an option rather than a daily use item. Peculiarly, I can't figure out how to attach it. I can thread the webbing fine, but there's no snaps, etc.

The ends of the straps that you feed through the molle are pretty rigid. You tuck them into the last row. It's actually a nice system.

On a week long trip to the east coast (from ca) with just 1 bag each. Girlfriend is using the sd25 and I'm using the black gr1.
It has a surprising amount of storage and she loves how it opens up like a suitcase.

I'm surprised that keeps the 2.2 pounds of water supported without falling off.

I really like the Camelbak bottle holder among the several that I have considered.
It is insulated and well made and can just be another pocket too if needed.

I've looked at that. It seems nice. I had the Maxpedition bottle holder until recently selling it on eBay. I never once used it.

There are actually "pockets" beneath the the molle webbing that accept the stiffened ends of the straps after they've been woven through the webbing. It's the same system they use to hold the padded pockets, map pocket etc - very solid once it's in place.
