+1 for Taken. I thought it was very well done and one of the best things I have seen in a while.

    +1 on Shooter!

Why a movie made in the last 5 years? When I think of good action movies, the first things that come to mind are Die Hard 1 and Die Hard 2.

If realism is less important I would recommend the older John Woo films, from the time before he came to Hollywood: e.g. A Better Tomorrow, The Killer and Hard Boiled. Often those had a more complex plot and more interesting characters than action movies made in Hollywood at the same time.

A little older than 5 years but still very awesome: The Princess Bride..... Sword Play, Screaming Eels, Fire Swamp and Andre the Giant, everything a film needs.

More Recent: The Rundown - good for a chuckle too
    : Kill Bill
: Defiance starring James Bond - Based on the lives of the Bielski brothers in WW2, pretty good flick

    :iagree:

If you think Face/Off was good, then Hard Boiled would blow your mind. A lot of the 'signature John Woo' gunfight moves in Face/Off are actually recycled from Hard Boiled.

A lot of these suggestions I would mirror, so I'll not include those.

3:10 to Yuma was a good one.
