Going on a camping trip in about a month. What to bring?

    As a note, when you are wearing socks and other clothes to bed for warmth, make sure they are fresh, dry clothes and not what you have been wearing all day... Socks for example will often be slightly damp if you have been walking about all day (and therefore sweating a bit) or if your shoes are not completely waterproof. When you get into bed you may be fine, but when you wake up a while later with freezing cold feet and no circulation you will wish you had suffered swapping the warm used socks for cold but fresh and dry ones...

    For sure, having spare socks can mean the difference between comfort and not. Wool socks are the best, and they don't have to be expensive ones either. You can find fairly inexpensive merino wool socks pretty commonly.

    Nice catch narcosyntheis, I mistakenly assumed that of course he would change into dry gear. I forgot that he said he was a novice.
