If you know you will be using a knife hard, what do you take with you?

Depends on what "hard use" I would be doing.
My ZT 0350 handled all the hard use I threw at it so far. But that's just my "hard use".

If I'm in the woods, a Mora. For ~$15, it's tough to beat the things this knife can do. If I'm anywhere else, I like to turn to my Benchmade 300SN. I hate big folders, and the 300SN offers a real tank-like build in an easy to handle package.

I use anything by ESEE hard. You can tell if you look at my Laser Strike. I want to get a Cold Steel Recon 1 for a hard use folder.

+1 for Mora, for $15 you aren't afraid to break it but then you don't. Good luck, Ed

My Boker Cox is one of the most expensive knives I own, and if it was a lock-blade, I'd abuse the hell out of it. So far it's been a great knife.

Bark River Bravo-1, Emerson CQC7 backup.

If I know I'll be chopping wood, a nice axe. Maybe for backup a "tactical tomahawk."
(I don't hold with "batonning" wood, unless it's an emergency and that's the hand I'm dealt.)

My Schrade SCHF9. It's a giant, heavy, bulletproof chunk of badness. I'm sure I can drive it through a car door with a sledgehammer without breaking it if I needed to.

I've got an old Cold Steel SRK that I've had for 17 years that I use when they scrub and blackberry vines get too thick and its still doing the job just fine. I also have a trailmaster that is even better but its just too much knife. Even I am a bit self conscious carrying that thing around!
