Well, I'm surprised I don't see anything about this here yet.

I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet (pun intended), but I did pull the trigger a bunch of times firing one tonight. The new 17 will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Way to early and nothing ground breaking to make me diverge from Gen 3's still. With that said, I am glad they are listening somewhat to the market and making some of the changes associated with the aftermarket (no finger grooves) as standard. I would still take one over many other guns on the market if the Gen 3 wasn't an option.

I'm still getting along with my 3rd Gen Glocks. Unless they offer something not currently available, I'll pass.

The model 41 is my only 4th gen double stack.

Yep, I'm a Gen3 fan myself. I would like a 19 with no finger grooves, but I hate the Gen 4 gaint mag release and I'm not crazy about the texture.
It works on my 43 but the mag release doesn't seem as large and and the texture is subtle.

I started to make a post when I got the email from Glock last Friday. I'm eager to fondle the new model and will consider trading in my four month old 19 Gen 4.

I like my Gen 4 G19. Unless there's something truly Earth shattering about the Gen 5, I'll hold off.

Once they come out with a stun/kill setting, I'm in.

I'd like to try without finger grooves and a better cut out under trigger guard.

I totally agree with everything stated already. I'm sure it is going to be a fine gun, but it wont make me rush out to replace my Gen 3.

Yeah Ill stick to Gen3. Glock is falling behind, and sad that they have to take a step back to go in the right direction with things like the finger grooves.

I presently have a G19/Gen 3 and I've decided to hold off on buying a new G17/Gen 5 so that I can reap the deals on a lightly used G17/Gen 4 when everyone offloads them to get the new Gen 5. :)

With military pricing, I can get aG19 Gen 5 for the same price as a Gen 4. It will be my first Glock. Which would you guys suggest? I'll have to give the fingers grooves another try but I don't recall them being in the way of my smallish hands.

Try them both side by side. If the finger grooves are bothering you, then maybe the 5. If not, go with a gen3 or4. in my opinion the only reason to go with a Gen 4, is the back straps. I get slide bite on my gen 3's. So my go to competition gun is a G17, Gen 4. I think the trigger is better without the "dimple" on the trigger bar. I did do a swap to a Gen 3 trigger bar, but felt mushy, so went back to the stock one.

I am a Glock fanboy who thinks the 19 is the best semi auto ever made.

I would skip the Gen 5 after putting one through its paces - the cutout in the magwell is horrible and total deal breaker.

It irritates my pinky finger as it rests right on it and if you don't reload by putting the mag in perfectly vertical or angled backwards, the front end of the mag will catch on the cutout. It 100% completely contradicts the idea of having a flared magwell. Really REALLY poor design.

You would also be crazy to be a beta tester - the gen 4s and g42 had recall issues.

I would enjoy the discounted pricing on the Gen 4s.

Thanks for that info! Once my funds arrive and I go to make my purchase, I will give the Gen 4 a MUCH closer look. I haven't shot shot a Glock in over 20 years so I wouldn't know how a Glock trigger is suppose to feel and I don't recall how the finger grooves feel.

I have a Sig MK25. I am debating between getting a G26 or G19. I haven't decided yet. As much as I love my Sig, I feel it is best to diversify.
