Well ill be trolling the forums again! Today I was smash-and-grabbed and lost my whole load..... Got to love san fran. So i will be building a new set of kit. Cheers!
Wow! That was either a lot of stuff or high end. They would have to take all my guns, knives and military gear to come that close.
When you think about the cost of stuff, it adds up fast. 5.5k...that could be a nice bag with a few apple products and acc. in a nice car...or close to it. What I'd like to know is having this happen, how will you act differently? what countermeasures will you put in place? Example, if it was smash & grab out of your car, do you think cable locking the bag to a seat would have helped any?
Sorry to read you lost so much. I would think you will evaluate how to keep your EDC safe. Loaded pockets asked some good questions. Depending on where the smash and grab occurred your security measures will different from that point forward. Best of luck in this endeavor. If you can share how you increased EDC security I for one would appreciate you sharing. No one is immune from smash-grabs.
That sucks, sorry man. But it happens everywhere. My inlaws came to visit from Spokane over the holidays and parked in the long term parking lot. When they pulled in they said there were probably a hundred cars that all had their back windows broken out and full of snow. Never leave ANYTHING showing when you walk away from your car, not even a granola bar.
I absolutely agree, the situation was a bit unavoidable. We were taking pregnancy photos at the time. It was insisted upon me that my pockets needed to be empty. We were 20ft from the car when it happened. Speculation is that the street vender called it in. Then a second person came and timed the smash and grab perfectly as a third pulled up to drive them away at speed. This was confirmed by the police officer who arrived stating it was a known thing to happen there.(petty theft is legal in San Fran by the way) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
