OK, I thought my post from today on the main EDC thread was probably a good way to start my own thread so posting it here as well. I'm retiring next year so new purchases will be restricted after this year but we'll see how this goes. I'm definitely new to having my own thread on any forum. Thanks for joining me on this journey of a thread, maybe we'll see where it goes together. So I'll just start with a look into my life today:

Thursday 08/04/2016 EDC dump at one end of my desk. This post will give you a little preview into my life. And that YETI coozie is ALWAYS with me usually with a Coke Zero so it is definitely a true EDC item. One of my two bad habits the other being a love for cigars. I'm also a huge fan of "Agents of SHIELD" as you can see or maybe I'm secretly an agent of SHIELD in my secret lair or maybe a Hydra double agent?????? Left out the Luminox on my wrist, duh! I'm always doing that. It is the Navy Seals shown in other posts still sporting an OD Green NATO band.

& What feels at times like my other EDC item, a Maine Coon named Lucy Liu, and yes she's named after the actress as she is a Prima Donna cat. She actually lives on my desk when I'm working and at night, otherwise she's following me everywhere. Sometimes drives me crazy but I NEVER feel lonely!!!!!!

On cigars, my daily cigar is a cheap Nicaraguan cigar named Mr. B. On the weekends, holidays, and special occasions I usually smoke Opus X, Opus X Lost City, Padron 1926 or 1964 cigars or I opt to try something new. They are expensive so I limit them, but I have a couple of Mr. B's every day, not bad for $2.00 each.

This was Saturday afternoon at my Brother-in-Laws, forgot to bring an Opus X so settled for Mr. B, still good enough. And there it is, the always present YETI.

Also just of note, I've had dozens of butane lighters from cheap to really expensive and have never had but one last more than a year without problems and that's multiple brands including Xikar who makes my favorite cigar cutter. The only two that have lasted are an IM Corona which is now 8 years old and going strong and a Thunderbird Vector insert for Zippo's. Most of the time I prefer the versatility of the Thunderbird Vector insert in my collection of Zippo's which you'll see me alternate often. The Thunderbird Vector inserts are hit & miss too, some work great, some work for a time & quit. This one has lasted several years now but another I bought at the same time only worked through the first refill.

I'll take a pic inside my modest little humidor some time for any cigar aficionados stopping by.

This was my introduce yourself post for anyone wanting to know more about me:

"I've lurked here a little so decided to join because the EDC items I see posted here are just amazing. Always learning new or better items based on these threads not to mention some of the gear just blows me away.

I'm almost 56 years old but have lived by the Boy Scout motto of "Be Prepared" since I was a child so I guess you could say I have been an EDC'er for a very long time like almost 50 years, although the goodies I carry got better every year with age. I started with small Ray-O-Vac flashlights and Case or Old Timer knives along with a hand me down Elgin watch back in the 60's as a child which were always with me. My Mother could never get over my fascination with lights & knives as a child. Move forward to today, my taste in watches are Rolex, Omega, and early Luminox watches which I just love. Knives are various but my favorite folders are ZT, DPX, Southern Grind Bad Monkeys, and Benchmades, just got a Hinderer so time will tell on that. Fixed Blades, I'm all ESEE, I have one of everything in their line-up I think except the Laser Strike. And oh, I love Zippo's and Fisher military space pens, cheap but simple & always work!! Recently fascinated by Lenslight flashlights and TAD Gear.

I've been in the telecom industry as a manager for almost 30 years. Plan to retire just after I reach the 30 year mark in January 2017, and probably retire no later than June next year so I'm trying to purchase some long time wanted items before I retire. I live in North Georgia & will probably remain here unless I can talk my wife into moving to the Florida panhandle, which is not likely to happen but you never know. Been long winded on this so I'll close by saying looking forward to now being a member here."

My daily EDC bag & setup:

Starts with a Triple Aught Design OP1 (modified) bag which goes everywhere with me. I either just carry it or it rides in one of 3 others larger bags I'll preview later, they include a Combat Flip Flops Claymore Bag, a Kelty Velocity backpack, or a Triple Aught Design FastPack EDC. If I leave the house one of these usually accompanies me except on maybe quick trips to the store. The OP1 allows me to carry everything I EDC & might need daily in one compact little bag except a pistol. It gets loaded nightly and is ready to go for any adventure or misadventure at a moments notice.

    Here's today load out.

On the right side I carry Dermatone Lip Balm, nail clippers, a Leatherman Style CS for the scissors, Uncle Ben's Sliver Gripper tweezers, toe nail clipper, Leatherman WAVE bit set, and a Triple Aught Design titatium skeleton key that sometimes ends up in my pocket.

In the right inside zippered pocket I carry 2 Shout wipes for getting stains out of clothing, 2 hand wipes, a limited assortment of first aid items, and an array of sewing needles (plain needle, sail needle, curved mattress needle, carpet needle, upholstery pin, and glovers needle) to sew up pretty much anything and they take up very little space. Not shown in with the needles is an assortment of various colors sewing thread in 20" lengths and 2 large safety pins.

In the outside Velcro closure pocket I keep my lighter, usually a ZIPPO with Thunderbird Vector butane insert & my cigar cutter, usually a Xikar Xi3 stainless.

In the outer Velcro closure pocket I keep 3-4 things, my wallet, my keys, a second SAC, and sometimes a second smaller flashlight whichever one I'm choosing to carry for the day in both the latter items. TAD did a terrible design on this pocket in my opinion, they divided this compartment into 3 almost unusable pockets with two sewed seams in the center. With their design you can get maybe a couple of credit cards and a small Fisher Space pen to fit. By removing the 2 center seams dividing the compartment into three sections, you get one really open compartment that can carry a lot as seen here. To me this is a great modification to what is otherwise a terrific design. You can still see where the seams were in the photo. These items always get moved to my pockets for the day.

On the left side I carry a Leatherman bit extender, a Leatherman WAVE, an ALOX Harvester, a titatium skeleton tool, A Suunto Clipper watch compass, a PNY 32 GB flash drive, my large tactical folder (changes regularly), and a 2 cell CR123 flashlight in this case a Lenslight KO TAD edition. The large tactical folder always gets moved to my pocket. Sometimes this light and also sometimes the WAVE end up in my pocket otherwise they stay in the bag. I always carry a larger light here even though I might put a smaller one in my pocket for the day.

In the open pocket on the left side I keep two small notebooks, one personal, one for work. I also always keep 2-3 pens & usually a Sharpie which is missing here for some reason. Hmmmmmmmm... The notebooks vary, Rite in the Rain here but I love Moleskine & Field Notes. These were free so they are getting used.

I know everyone has different systems but this has worked for me. I've tried other small bags from Maxpedition & Vanquest but always come back to this set up as it's small enough to fit in anything but covers all my daily essentials. In an emergency I can grab it & my phone, glasses, and watch and go in a hurry. In the mornings, I do the same, and I'm not disturbing my wife by loading my pockets up in the bedroom. I do that later.

Anyway I'm prepared for emergencies, the daily grind, or that next great adventure with this set up. Now just need to get on those adventures more.........

Nice thread and great pics. You might want to consider asking the mods to move this thread to the Breakroom or General EDC where it will get more traffic/views. I understand why you put it here, but it may not get a whole lot of exposure for what it is.

    Just a thought.

    Great gear pics! Subscribed!

I usually carry Spec OPS mini pocket organizer, and use Maxped Fatty for trip. (We can't carry certain knives. So the small one is good enough to carry in my daily life.) Your TAD OP1 looks very nice!

I look forward to see other gear pics. Especially the color themes'.:D

Here are just a few "artistic" views of some of my gear playing with Photoshop Express on my iPad Pro tonight. I use the term artistic very loosely as I'm definitely no artist. All my shots to date are taken on an iPad Pro or an iPhone 6 Plus. I use Photos, Photoshop Express, and EZ Watermark as editing & creative software. All are pretty basic but useful.

Very nice Hinderer pen collection. Pics looks great as well! My android phone's camera is very very inferior performance, and I don't have any photo editing software. All I have is a compact digital camera.

I can see the point of where I live, in the Hbh map. Thanks for your consideration.:D

8/5/16 - Key chain TEC clips from yesterday's mail call put into action quickly today.

They were put into action as I redid my keys this morning due to an unfortunate occurrence. I go to unlock our garage door into the house and the 10+ year old key breaks off in the lock. Spent an hour getting the door knob apart & off plus trying to get the remaining portion of the key out with no luck, carried it to the hardware store for lunch and luckily found a pro who had it out in 10 minutes and made me 4 brand new house keys. Back home, door knob back together, 2 new keys for my wife, 2 new keys for me, and TEC clips added to the only three items I carry on my key chain. I hate lots of items with my car key chain, I've tried to carry numerous items but I always come back to just a nice FOB, a small light, house key, & car key, maybe occasionally one tool or trinket.

8/5/16 - Mail call, then back to work for the afternoon. New to me Luminox Navy Seal Chronograph Model 3187 now retired. About half price of original cost plus 3 bands including stainless for an almost new Luminox. It still has the plastic on the back so apparently rarely if ever worn. Love it. More pics later when I have some time. Now gotta get to some meetings, ready for the weekend.
