The great thing about surplus French military products is they are all new in the box, unused.

If it wasn't for the French during the American Revolution, we'd still be speaking English.

Thankfully, back then, they were a couple of centuries away from all becoming socialists.

Guys, 92000 french soldiers died in combat in 1940 and took 49000 german soldiers... I don't know white flags were so deadly...

Not cowards at all. This :censored: circulated because France refused to join in the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, which they declined for policy reasons, not cowardice. Historically, the French military has fought well, often heroically. Read a little history before dissing an entire nation.

We'll make it up to them with a few cases of wine and Brie.

Come on guys, his White Flag comment was blatant sarcasm. Just as was the pic by the OP. Blatant, silly, sarcasm that obviously was never remotely meant to be taken seriously.

Making fun of someone with derogatory remarks is not sarcasm. Frankly this :censored: has gone way past getting old, every time France is mentioned you can guarantee some ******* is coming out with "ohh where's the white flag", "ohh haven't they surrendered yet", "ohh they always lose". I'm not even French and I'm tired of reading this crap.

I did think the OP was funny but I'm really tired of the dog piling on France, it's gotten old.

Honestly, it's only derogatory if it was meant as a mean-spirited insult deliberately said to hurt someone in an emotional way. Equating white flags with France is a silly joke. Nothing more. Far from mean-spirited, and thus far from derogatory. It's like saying, "What's the main sport in Russia? . . . Drinking!" or, "Not all Russians drink all the time. Even drunks need to sleep."

I've heard all manner of silly Drunk Russian jokes. I have a sense of humor, so I don't get offended. I know such jokes aren't meant to be mean-spirited or hurtful. It's just a bit of silliness. That's all. I recognize such jokes for what they are. As a Russian, I don't get offended. Hell, a few of them are even creative. It's a joke. A silly joke. Not meant to be taken seriously. Having a sense of humor makes getting through Life a helluva lot easier.

BTW, I like Canadian bacon, but it tastes a lot like ham. ;)

Don't get me wrong : the knife picture is funny as wine is part of our culture (though one blade is missing to spread cheese lol). The surrending cliché is not, especially because there are still many veterans (and resistants) alive. France experienced war. Even our landscapes are modelled by war (WW1 and WW2).

While I do think the original white flag comment was sarcasm, anyone unsure of the courage of the French should go and look up the French Resistance of World War Two.
