Some time ago, I read a post that I found to be intriguing. Basically it said that a keychain that had a safety pin and a paper clip on it would have more functionality than 90% of all the keychains in the world, and that the other 10% are owned by folks on this forum.

Which free or almost free keychain tools are you using?

    Thanks

Hmm. Never thought about a safety pin, that could be useful. I wish my OCD would allow for one on the keychain :p need to drop one in my bag.

Safety pins weigh nothing and take up no room on a keychain for sure. Multiple potential uses. Next time I'm in the dollar store I'm going to see what else they have that might be keychain useful. My medical assistant has a dollar store lanyard on her keychain as do I, and she has a nice $1 LED flashlight on hers as well.

Paper clips are very handy if you get one sturdy enough they can make do as a light duty screw driver. A cut up road bike inner tube can be helpful as a make shift rubber band or cord organizer, wrap it around the seldom used keys to keep them quiet, etc.

Depends on the wallet I guess. I use an All Ett which is designed for cards and paper bills/notes but not little gadgets.

Well, mine are next to useless and I certainly wouldn't use anyone else's. No matter how cheap they came.

A safety pin and paper clip would get demolished in seconds on my keys.

I have them in my bag, however...

I always want to add that to my keychain EDC. (Right now I have a atwood prybaby, and separately a minichamp). Any recommendation to the best "carrier" for it?

    Thx

A keychain duct tape roll is something i recently added and it's already come in handy twice. It's one of those things where if you don't have it, nothing else can do its job. Safety pin is a great idea too. Definitely going to add that as soon as I can track one down...

A small set of nail clippers. I picked mine up at the dollar store. I don't know if they would actually cut your nails, but the thousands of other uses I have found make
    them worth the carry

Might not count but I use to keep my keys attached to my belt loop with a metal spring clip, like a janitor would use, however I just switched to a lanyard they gave us at work. MUCH less weight and "built in cordage". I put the lanyard through my belt loop then drop my keys through the neck hole and let the keys weight keep the knot closed. (can't remember the knot name.) it hangs lower but I can place keys in pocket and pull them out easier now. so slight upgrade.

None of them because I have found that they are useless to me.
