Recently I have become obsessed with fountain pens. I am up to 4 of them right now, but i'm trading one of them.

    I have a Waterman Phileas
    Montblan Meistertuck (Replica)
    Pilot Prera
    Lamy Safari (Trading)

I love how smooth these pens are. I love having the ink bottles and filling them. It's just such a classic way to write and to enjoy the writing experience.

How do you guys like the Kaweko classic sport? I'm looking for an entry level fountain pen, and think I would prefer a pocket sized over full sized pen.

I think I'd pick the Lamy Safari over the Kaweco in that price range, but the Kaweco is very cool, and there's no shame coming second to a Lamy.

^^ Thanks, that was the other pen I was eyeing, but was attracted to the pocket size of the Kaweko. However, I like that you can get the converter for the Lamy and use whichever bottled ink you like. I think I'll start with the Lamy and go from there

The more I use them the more I like them. I just got myself a blue TWSBI Vac700 and I can't wait for my ink to arrive so I can fill it and use it. It is a very nice pen. It seems the more I use my Noodles Konrad's and Ahab, the more I like them.

I absolutely love fountain pens. More for the ink than anything else. Right now I've got a TWSBI 580 with 1.1 and F nibs, Jinhao X750 M, Pilot Metropolitan M, a Lamy Safari in EF and one in M, a Noodlers Ahab with a Goulet EF nib (friend broke my flex nib :( ) and a Platinum Peppy 0.3.

Just starting using a fountain pen after many years and currently carry a Safari Al-star, although something more upscale is in the works.

Didn't realize how much I like using one until I started up again, makes writing almost fun again.

I agree. When I discovered fountain pens, it turned writing into a pleasure rather than a chore. I started with a Lamy Safari and acquired several more fountain pens after. My next will surely be a Pilot Vanishing Point.

I grew up with them. It was either an old-fashioned wooden pencil or a fountain pen. That was all we had in the house during my youth. I use them on occasion; however, no longer regularly given the other options that make this mode of writing that much more convenient.

I have a small collection that includes three that my father owned (and his father as well) and regularly carried along with the WWII-issue Colt 1911.

I have a Lamy Safari (Charcoal), Kaweco Al Sport (Raw Aluminum) and Pilot Vanishing Point (Stealth Black). I just purchased a bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi Black Charcoal ink.

That Iro Ink is great! That's all I use in my pens anymore. I alternate between Cerulean Blue, Forest Green, and Burgundy as the mood strikes me.

Good to hear, thanks -- there are so many choices out there, and I wanted to test the waters first before diving in...

[Edit: Ordered up a Z24 converter along with some Noodler's "Bulletproof Black" ink. Wow, what a nice combo! Even writes on cheap half-sized notepads from Costco without missing a beat. Plus, with three ounces in the bottle, I think I have enough ink now until TEOTWAWKI.]

I love writing with fountain pens. Sometimes if I'm sitting at my desk listening to music, I'll grab one of my Parker's and write out the lyrics.

Unfortunately most of the time if I'm at work or just scribbling notes, I'll grab a rollerball.

Oh rant rant. There are only a few shops that sell fountain pens here. They are either cheap like 1.5-2.0 dolars or super expensive ones. I want one so bad and have to buy those throw aways :/
