Playing around with the scanner again. The Baystate Blue:Water mixture really helps BSB behave. It does cut down just a bit of the vibrancy of the ink though... Next time I might try a 2:1 BSB:H2O ratio, which is probably where I should've started.
My current daily rotation is: Iroshizuku Kon-peki (Pilot Prera) DeAtramentis Fog Grey ( Noodlers Ahab) Diamine Oxblood (Lamy 2000) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Only one for years : Pelikan Souveran. But it is more often at my office than in my pocket these last times...
Right at the moment: J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite (Lamy Vista 1.5 Stub) Noodler's 54th massachusetts (TWSBI 580AL EF) Incoming Samples: Noodler's Apache Sunset Lexington Gray Air-Corps Blue-Black Black swan in australian roses Black swan in english roses Private Reserve Orange Crush Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-ryoku
The only ink I have access to at the moment is Bernanke Blue, but I did have both Noodlers Bulletproof Black and #41 Brown in addition to that.
I just diluted Noodler's Baystate Blue 50/50. It seems to be working much nicer now, but it may be a bit too slow to dry. I haven't decided on an everyday ink (if I ever do), but I was on the verge of writing Baystate off entirely. This has put it back in the running. Actually my plan is to ink each of the pens I have in rotation with a slightly different blue ink so that it's always blue, but I can see what was written on what day (or at least what was written on different days).
Baystate Blue is a tough one. On one hand, it's the most vibrant retina searing blue ink on the market. On the other hand, it doesn't behave the best on a lot of paper and stains everything it touches. The water really helps it. Once I finish the 1:1 I have mixed up, I'll give 2:1 a try and report back. Glad to hear it's working better for you. It'd be a shame to write such an ink off completely, but BSB sometimes pushed you to it.
Written on an off-white TWSBI notebook that came with the Micarta. Kiowa Pecan looks good on the off-white/ivory paper. Phone camera still sucks though...
Pelican Jade at the moment Just because green is a bit different and as a big James Bond fan 'M' signs documents in green ink.
Playing with some new toys. De Atramentis document dark blue and Diamine merlot? I think it's Merlot anyway. Sent from my iPhone 6 Plus using Tapatalk
Right now I have some DeA Blackberry in my Safari, my eyedropper converted Sport has some somewhat overconcentrated Liberty's Elysium (I lost the pen for about two or three weeks and the LE evaporated a little in the interim) and the Raja has Liberty's Elysium as usual. I think I'll run some Waterman's Serenity Blue through the Safari next and whenever I happen to write the Sport dry I'll either find my package of Private Reserve Ebony Purple carts (haven't looked for them so I don't know where they are) or throw the remainder of one of my partial samples into the barrel as an eyedropper. The DeA Blackberry is nice and all, but to be honest I find it kinda boring. If it was the first dusty, blackish purpley red I tried I might like it more, but it's too similar to Black Cherry, BSIAR and Purple Heart to be a go-to for me. Unfortunately the smell (it's a scented ink) isn't enough to redeem it in my book. It is a nice ink, just not for me. ETA- Just as a somewhat off topic comment... I'm not a fan of bright colored Jeeps (I think they look best in dark colors and earth tones) but I saw several painted in a dead ringer for the Lamy Copperorange color and it actually looked good. So if anyone happens to want a vehicle to match your new pen, it looks like Chrysler has you covered
These are the ones I currently have with me: EDC bag Rohrer&Klingner Salix in TWSBI Micarta V2 (B) Diamine Green/Black in Lamy Safari umbra (F) Lamy Turquoise in Lamy Vista M On person Pelikan Blue/Black in Kaweco Liliput Brass Wave (M) Work trolley Parker Blue/Black in Parker Vector (together with a rollerball, both rarely used) There’s a TWSBI 580AL coming which will probably get J. Herbin Rouge Hématite as first filling. A Pilot Parallel Pen 2,4 mm with J. Herbin Gris Orage is at home, and a few others too.
I've got a Namiki Nippon Crane and Turtle pen (fine nib) and use Pilot Iroshizuku Winter Shogun ink. It's like writing nirvana every time I write with this combination.
Sitting in the DB.Lounge at Frankfurt (Main) Hbf train station (free wifi, free non-alcoholic drinks). Waiting for the train, since they are on strike and only a few are going. So I have time, camera, net, paper and table, and some kind of light. How they write. How they look. And some other stuff. I forgot for both pictures to add the nib size for the 580AL. It’s M.
