I'll be adding a few photos later. I have the First Tactical half day pack (which is great for work EDC). I am about to make their Half Day Pack my work EDC. First Tactical is a company founded by Dan Costa, who founded 5.11. These bags seem great to me, and I do not know why they aren't higher profile on here. Let's see yours!
Here is my 1 Day Plus Tactix out for the W#eek on a trip instead of the GR2! I really like this pack a lot. Much lighter weight and certainly rugged enough to do the job for me,really appreciate the light, flexible nature of this one compared to the heavy, stiff GORUCK on the first use at least. The organization also seems to really suit me and I was able to carry more and hurt less in the end! A Keeper for sure! It is tough to take good pics though of a Black Bag? Here's mine. It's the half day pack and I really really like it. As @EZDog said the organisation is great. And it does feel much lighter than a GoRuck. It's loaded out for work today so mainly focusing on mobile journalism equipment (as a trial I am just using my phone for work)... Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk
Thinking about ordering a Specialist One Day backpack.. Question: How sturdy is the Replaceable Compression Strap hardware? Sent from my LG-K540 using Tapatalk
Same here. Hard to get an idea of the size. I am looking for a pack to replace my RUSH12, just a bit smaller all around.
To me the RUSH12 seems larger than the .5. Comparing the two I have to say the FT is amazing and the RUSH12 is just OK...
I think I might get the 1 day pack in green, for work. Nice. What's the difference between the 1 day and the 1 day plus?
I just wish they had one with the R24 side pockets in ANY size!? Those pockets are ideal for me to hold big sport bottles and I miss them every single day on the 1st Tactical that I am carrying. Some people that own an R24 seem to not even be aware that the pockets are there? I like that! On the other hand I could never find a great spot for CCW or Computer Carry in the Ruch but the Tactix that I have has a few of them.
Stupid question...What is the difference between the 1 day, and the 1 day plus backpacks? Is it just a small volume difference, or is there more to it?
They're totally different backpacks. One is the Specialist line, and the other is the Tactix line. There is no one and oneplus of both.
Here is my Tactix Half-Day Pack. I've owned several Rush 12/24 and I like the First Tactical line better. To me, they are like a Rush on Steroids. The only reason I chose the Tactix over the Specialist was because it has a CCW pocket. Other than that, I would have went with the Specialist. I originally purchased the 1-Day Plus but after receiving it I found that its 38.8L size was too large for my needs. I exchanged it for Half-Day and found that its 27.4L was perfect for my day to day and hiking needs. First Tactical Half-Day Pack Web by Greg Brakefield, on Flickr
Does it carry better than a RUSH 12? I love my rush, but it makes my back really hot and sweaty. It's not really built for comfort.
Mine doesn't I have a Timbuk2 Spire which is great for my massive sweat skills, and the A19 Evade is too...
The Tactix may be slightly better due to the padding material used, but it's not night and day. I've owned Kifaru, Tad Gear, etc. backpacks over the years and I have never found one that stands out from the others when it comes to sweating/comfort. They typically use heavier, denser materials and are built for ruggedness, with sweating/comfort secondary. I have found that hiking backpacks such as Osprey, Arc’teryx, Gregory, etc. do much better in that department.
My Tactix 0.5 Day Pack, upgraded from my Rush 12 due to the CCW pocket and the really nifty rear hang thru pocket which I store my iPad and Fire HD tablet in and is so much easier to access than the bladder pocket on the Rush. It’s truly a Rush 12 deluxe, I also love the two front split pockets. Pics also added of the Rush 12 and the 0.5 Day Pack comparison. The few qualms I have is that the front admin zippers need to come further down so it the front can lay flat like the Rush 12 and I wished they had double zippers on the front pockets to let me decide which way the pocket closes. I also wished they had done the CCW pocket just like the 5.11 MOAB models with hook and loop closure instead of the zipper. But all in all, the complaints I have are very very minor and everything else on it is top notch.
I’ve bought three bags and a number of pouches from them, with no regrets. Everything I have of theirs is well made and sturdy as heck.
Can anyone help me decide between the Tactix and the Specialist as a EDC Pack? I'm looking to replace my Rush 12 which has been my EDC for some 5 years now. I'd like to keep the overall size and footprint. So this makes me lean towards the Specialist. I don't really need MOLLE, although it is sometimes used. CCW pocket is a plus, so aside from this, is there any real benefit for the Tactix?
