    Hey, this thread is/was inspired by the Star Trek fans thread.

    As a result of that thread, I was wondering how many Firefly fans there are around here. I know that there is at least one, based on the pic of his EDC.

    As an aside, How about Douglas Adams fans, based on the towel thread, I know that there are a few.

    Huge Firefly fan here. Of course, I didn't see the series until long after it was cancelled...which also makes me wonder: what the heck was the network thinking?! Serenity was a nice follow up. That show had massive potential, IMHO.

    Long story short, scheduling issues killed it. They moved it around, aired the show out of order, and put it up against Dancing With the Stars. And then they canceled it because it wasn't doing well. Morons. It was envisioned to last around 14 seasons.

    Ridiculous thing to cancel!

    Another big fan here, certainly of Firefly & the late great Douglas Adams amongst many other sci-fi things :D

    Count me in too. Like LivingUpNorth, I started watching it after it was canceled. I think I actually saw Serenity and then the series. There are two shows that have been on television that I can say are the best ever. Firefly is one, The Wire the other.

    It does amaze me that there are 101 CSI, Law & Order, and reality shows, but when they have a good one they let to go. The good die young I suppose.

    I also give a lot of credit to Joss Whedon for Avengers too.

    Loved the movie but haven't looked into the show yet. I think I'll check netflix streaming for it. I would love to start reading some of Adam's stuff, but don't know where to start :(

    I think that it may have something to do with the lowest common denominator. I read some where that newspapers are written at an eighth grade level, for that very reason.

    I think you mean browncoat. Brownshirts had something to do with the Nazis, if my memory serves me right. I could be wrong,it has happened more than once.

    Make sure you watch them in the right order, like they are on the DVD. In yet another example of Fox' ineptitude, they dropped the audience into the middle of what was supposed to be Episode 3, didn't air the pilot until near the end of the season, and aired most of the rest of the episodes out of order.

    "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." If you like that, be sure to read the whole trilogy… all five books! ;)

    FAN HERE! But they didn't hit on reavers until the movie and and they didn't even hit upon the oh so often referenced 'Blue Sun' conspiracy! Man I wish they would bring that back...

    Such a tragedy firefly was. So good and with so much promise and killed so early. One of my all time favorites.

    On his blog one of my favorite authors, Patrick Rothfuss, talked a while back about buying the rights to Firefly/serenity and getting it done right. I guess it never happened though :(
