I liked the picture of the Star, Mr. Froley. I've had four of five different Star pistols. They were awfully nice but I somehow managed to break something on every one, although they were never disabled. One was even nickel-plated.

I lucked into this beauty for on GB. I know people love to scoff at GB, but on occasion you can get some awesome deals. This is a Smith and Wesson Mod. 10-5, 6 inch barrel in .38 Special. A true American classic from the hay-day of S&W, made in 1965. I love mechanical craftsmanship, so these old school S&Ws really appeal to me.

I am not a big fan of wheel guns. But this classical piece of man jewellery is stunning ! There is just something about the oldies (but goodies) that forces you to admire them...

Here's a rare one from my Walther collection... this is a mint condition P5 in 9x19. Basically Walther's updated P38/P1/P4. Really a cool gun, the slide release doubles as a decocker. It's also super overbuilt, it's really impressive, dual recoil springs, massive locking lugs on the toggle lock that are the size of an AKs lugs, three points of barrel lockup with the slide... it's a tough gun. Maybe not a fighting pistol by today's standards, mag capacity is limited and the gun is pretty heavy, but its a classic in its own right...

I guess a body can't have too many guns. I am startled at how many unusual guns in this thread there are that I've owned, like the Walther P5. I didn't think it was heavy at all but mine wasn't as pretty as that one. I also had a Model 10 with a six-inch barrel, which I always thought looked way too long. Yet the same gun with a five-inch barrel seemed to have perfect balance. I had three of them, one of which was in .38 S&W, known to the British as a .38/200. It was pretty beat up but worked perfectly well. The US Army technical manual quaintly referred to the caliber as ".38 regular." I also had a Model 19 (when that made you think S&W instead of Glock) but I though the Model 13 was much better. Mine was a 4-inch barrel. I never had one with a 3" barrel but I did have a Model 65LS that was a mighty handy revolver.

My latest purchase; Springfield Armory V10 in 45ACP. I'm going to replace the current sites with more lower profile ones. Nice shooter, no problems. Magazines it came with worked very well. May purchase about 4 Wilson Combat mags for it.[IMG]
