stippling is great for grip, really annoying to carry. i find it grates my skin if it rubs me, and I'm less happy to carry it. Competition guns that have offset holster's to carry sure, go nuts. My ROC in my waist band right now has a checkered MSH and some grip tape down the front strap, and rubber laser grips. I only need one of those surfaces to grab for me, so no need to go crazy with VZ or anything.

Eventually I'm going to break down and buy a G19 and remove the finger grooves and stipple it, because I like the gun so much but hate those flippin finger grooves. Once I grind those grooves off, stippling is just about my only option to make it look decent again. Otherwise I've thought about finding a used 19 and then just buying one of the aftermarket 19 frames that don't have grooves and swap everything over.

I had an extra grip for my Sig320 so I practiced on it. This was a square drive screw bit didn't like it

Haven't done it to my G19 yet, have to figure out how to get rid of the Gen4 bumps first

Not "stippling" per-se, but I've been having fun with a Deal Extreme $89 laser engraver meant for cell phone cases etc. that does a good job marking up FDE/Coyote brown Magpul Pmags.

Well, I've done quite a few. They're all airsoft tho, you don't get to work on any firearms in Moscow[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I got my 19 stippled just before a low light class a few months ago. A lot of that class involved one handed shooting with a handheld light in the off hand (FBI, neck index), and I found the weapon to be much easier to run with the added texture. Carried it every day since, with the stippling causing no comfort problems whatsoever. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

My friend and training partner uses Mr. Yuck stickers to mark his mags. The smiley face makes a great counter point. :)

idk but stippling a gun if your not 100 percent mastered on how to do it comes out bad plus demeans the value, not my style.

Had to do this. Otherwise the grip areas are entirely too slick.

I want to do something to my G19 but I'm skert. Mostly I want to undercut the trigger guard. I wouldn't mind removing the FG all together and doing some minor dimpling, but I would probably pay for that.

I started out working on old KAC panels until I got my pattern and depth down. I'll try to shoot some pics of my PMAGs. I worked up to those and then my SF light.

On the 30 round mags I textured the recesses where my grip would be when using a beer can grip. On the 20 rounders there isn't enough real estate for that, so I just did that row.

When the mags are in pouches, particularly those with Velcro, they require more effort to remove as the ridges on the stippling tend to catch.
