Built this over the last winter. Wanted a 3-gun rifle that was shorter, easier to handle than my old one based around a Nordic Components 18" barrel. This has now become my main rifle. Built it around an Aero matched upper/lower and a Strongside Tactical Stretch16 melonited, fluted barrel. Other details - Magpul MIAD, MOE Rifle stock, and MBUS Pro offset sights. Geissele SG-3G trigger, BCM BCG, gas block, and charging handle. Battle Arms Development ambi safety, Dynamic Resistance Comp, and Midwest G3 MLOK tube. Optic is a Vortex Razor HD II 1-6 JM-1 reticle in a Bobro mount.

Very fast, very accurate, very handy. After a few teething pains the rifle has exceeded my expectations.

Just finished my second build, and installed a Nikon P-223 on my 16". My AR pistol gonna be my "trunk" gun and home defense gun while my 16" is for some distance.

All ihave to say is; :censored: that's nice! I've been dreaming of that exact setup for a couple years; but as a college student, I won't have the funds for quite a while. :nah_disagree: What does she weigh?

Will try to weigh it tomorrow. I will say that with the Vortex it's pretty portly - I am guessing in the 9 - 9.5 lb range. I don't mind a heavier gun for 3-gun as it tends to shoot a bit flatter. If I wanted a lighter rifle I would probably have looked at a Steiner scope or other lighter unit and shaved over half a pound.

And even as a college student, you can save up $120. Do that, and buy your lower now. Regardless of who wins the next election, there will be a panic buy. Get a stripped lower and at least 5 30 round mags (total outlay less than $200) ASAP.

Heavier being preferable for 3-gun makes a lot of sense; same principle as a bench rest/long range rig I guess. I always tend to think in terms of backpacking, hike-in hunting, and interpersonal conflict resolution when it comes to rifles, but as they say, different tools for different jobs.
Roger that on the lower, I've got one built up already but having a second lower on had is a good idea for sure; and I don't think it's possible to have too many mags... As long as they're loaded.

There are only 2 times in your life you can have too much ammunition. 1) when you are swimming. 2) when the game warden wants to check the plug in your shotgun's magazine tube....

not sure you would have a lack of money seeing how you just posted something like $5000 worth of rifles and pistols... :nah_disagree:

Updated: Thinking I might change the following. Muzzle device and charging handle to a Lantac Dragon and Raptor or BCM for the charging

Check out Strike Industries. I have a BCM and a Strike Industries and I prefer the Strike much more. Also it's nearly half the price.

Are you referring to the muzzle break or charging handle? If so I'm leaning more towards the bcm just because of price (nonambi) but I really like having an abmi ch. And the bcm is the same price as the raptor.
