Not only will the wording in the gay marriage opinion remove previous gun bans.....but it should keep them from making any more, also the NFA rules are going to be contested....you cant force the gay couple to buy a more expensive marriage license......how can you ask me to pay a $200 tax on a right? Or am I wrong?
yar1182, every time I see a video like that, I want to start shooting 3gun or tactical rifle matches.
I would love to see the NFA eliminated but I'm not sure the equal protection clause will be the way that gets done. I'm thinking that it may pave the way to national concealed carry since a license issued/contract entered into in one state must be honored in all of the other states and territories. If only the SCOTUS would a) stay consistent and b) grant cert in any of the 2A cases that keep popping up on their docket...
$200 a pop times a few thousand items a year? That's chump change for uncle Sam. The NFA is all about control.
In 2012, there were 1.1 million NFA items processed. That means they are pulling in less than a quarter billion dollars, out of the $3.6 TRILLION budget. I stand by my chump change statement.
I don't disagree but ... your estimation was off by HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars. Good thing reality ended up being inside your really huge ballpark.
The NFA sum is significant. Pet programs are funded each year for much less than that. It is about the money and control.
