Can the clip be removed long enough to strip it completely? I looks like the clip is held in place by two Torx screws and the female half of a Chicago screw.

Most black clips seem to lose their coatings sooner or later.

I got the fixed, yes. It was cheaper (50% off, so 40€) than the folder (50€), and it’s completely legal to carry. The folder is OHO and locking, so the police could make trouble. And it has the glass breaker pommel. ;)

Good idea, Sam! You're correct: I can disassemble the clip from the tool. Instead of re-painting it or cold bluing it, I think I'll use fine sandpaper to take off the entire finish. Thanks for the suggestion!

I carry the Benchmade 7 Hook on my self in a IWB kydex sheath, I carry one on my EDC bag, and I carry the Benchmade 8 in my medical packs and infection control pack.

Just pack some kind of trauma shears if you're worried about cutting straps. They'll do it nicely, and they have far other uses. My favorite use for them is opening hard plastic packaging. The strap cutters are a sort of gimmick item to me.

My schrade titanium pry bar has one on it which is always in my pocket and I also have a dedicated one, I forget the make that is in the top pocket of my edc bag and always accessible. I am thinking of getting another and strapping it to the sun visor of the car like echo63 as that's a good idea. :)

I wouldn't trust the edge on the schrade, titanium is not really intended for cutting...

That looks like an interesting set up you have there, any more information on it?
