Jon had troubles accessing the servers. There might have been an attack to not allow him to gain access but it seems as though they block the IP trying to attack.

I think it was a governmental conspiracy to try to stop the best website on the internet!

He then had to get help from the hosts and now were back!

Thanks for all of the hard work Jon!

Here is what I know so far. The went down because it had maxed out the memory and cpu. I contacted the hosting company and they rebooted the server. After the server came back up the the servers memory was used up again in about 15 minutes and we went down again.

We have from time to time been in the past hit hard with tons of requests from a range of IP's and blocking those have done the trick before. The server was not up at any point long enough for me to start to look at anything. The hosting company told me we might be getting a DOS attack, I actually don't know yet. They brought the server back up but not the forum and told me not to try and do anything until I get a message from them.

I did get an email telling me it was back up, I don't know what happened yet and have sent them an email asking them to fill me in on what they did and what actually happened.

This cost me a whole bunch of time that I could not afford to lose.

I didn't resolve it. The hosting company got it fixed ;D

I am waiting for them to tell me if they still think it might be a DOS attack or if they think it was something else and what they did to fix the problem. I am going to take this time to do some maintenance on the forum then try and play catch up.
