@WanderingFool Guess the pen time: From left to right - TWSBI Mini Classic, Visconti Rembrant, Franklin Christoph Model 40PO, mystery pen, Lamy Safari Vista Demonstrator, Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands? Okay, two questions: 1. What is the mystery pen in silver? 2. What are your opinions on the F-C 40?
All correct on the guesses. The mystery pen is a 10 year old Rotring Fountain pen The 40P is probably my favorite pocket pen. I have the medium italic nib which may not be for everyone but I really enjoy using it.
Woohoo! Are you using the 40P as an eyedropper? If you are, does the ink seep into the threads on the section?
Y Yes I am using it as an eye dropper. There is a little seepage into the grip section. This last fill up I tried putting silicone grease on the nib collar unit also. It has kept the ink from seeping into the grip section, but putting it back together makes it smear a bit and look like ink seepage. EDIT: To add pics to better show what i was explaining. this shows the grip section. What you see in there is silicone greese from me trying to seal the threads of the nib colar to the grip section so no ink would flow in. And still going............. mumbo dumpo 3_18_14 by mumbojumboo, on Flickr I imagined more pencils... carry on.
Decided to swap it up today. My son left his TWSBI Vac700 out on the coffee table loaded with PR DC Supershow Blue. I'm not usually a fan of blue inks (sick of them from having to use them for so long) but i like this one. He might get this back tomorrow. Today's EDC Pen 3/19/2014 by NCWanderingFool, on Flickr WF
Davy- I apologize for not seeing this until now. I was quite ill for a few days last week and my father is in the hospital at the moment. I use the VP throughout my day and it is the pen I use exclusively. I don't write paragraphs of copy, mostly just small work related notes. I don't use a converter with it, but I refill my cartridges using an ink syringe. It works out well as I frequently switch between Pilot Blue Black and Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi Bamboo Charcoal black. A filled cartridge lasts me about two weeks.
Thanks for getting back to me Arnie. Hope your father improves rapidly, as do you. At the moment I have a very short list of fountain pens that I would like to own. The VP is a must have IMO. The Pilot Custom Heritage 92 is being nudged aside (for the moment) by the Franklin Christoph 19, but the Falcon remains on the list. Looking around on the internet it sometimes seems that the Mont Blanc pens are considered the gold standard. I am not sure why this is, as I find them stylistically mired in the past and functionally just okay. Same goes for Pelikan: just uninspiring. Other pen makers though seem to enjoy pushing the envelope a little on design. And I really applaud that. It's fun!
If you "like" the official TWSBI page on Facebook, they post a bunch of prototype photos up on there. I'd say 90% will never see production, but they did say they planned on releasing this one in particular. There is also a hexagonal barreled, solid colored one that's in the pipeline for release as well. Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
I bought my Mini when they first came out and do not regret it one bit. My wife tries to steal it from me daily. I loaded it with an ink she hates, and she still took it. Plan on ordering another one and a Vac 700 Mini when they are released. WF
