Thanks..its probably the only non-full metal pen I would consider buying. From your description I have feeling
    its worth every penny also.

i like the pen a lot.

no clip is no problem for me, i carry it in a pouch. it has a ring on the end, i guess you could wear it on a lanyard.

like everything, it's worth the money if you think it is. i think it is.

yes, i own two (steel/brass and all steel).

Yeah I think I will, although it will have to wait a bit. Spend my pen money and then some on some jcrew and banana republic today, both stores were 50% off and that's the only way I can afford them. Went from expensive to affordable, still wasn't cheap lol

    My current EDC:

Moleskine Hobbit Limited Edition pocket hardcover notebook (black/brown cover)
Quiver Double Pen holder for pocket notebooks (black)
Uniball Jetstream 0.7mm (gray body, black ink)
Uniball Jetstream 0.38mm (black body, blue ink)

Other pens that rotate in and out or have specific uses:

    (top to bottom)
    Uniball Shift Lock pencil 0.5mm
Lamy Safari (white, EF nib, blue Lamy cartridge)
Uniball Jetstream 0.7mm (blue body, black ink)
Uniball Jetstream 0.5mm (white body, black ink)
Rotring 600 pen (silver, loaded with Parker 0.7mm blue gel refill)
Fisher Bullet Space pen (silver, loaded with standard medium Fisher refill)

That Rotring is the oldest pen I own, I bought it in Germany in 1991. I used to have the matching pencil that I bought at the same time but it disappeared sometime along the way. :(

SAO, The Montblanc is gorgeous and classic. I may be getting my father in law's 149 from his estate. It has great sentimental value, but first I want to see what it is appraised at. Do you like the way it writes? I have one Montblanc from the late 1970's that was their least expensive model. I was not all that crazy about that pen, but I suspect that it is a world of difference compared to a Meisterstuk 149.

I don't have much to compare it to, it's been a long time since I wrote with a fountain pen. It feels quite smooth on decent paper and I enjoy using it, I will say it does not feel quite as nice as my visconti but then that has had more use so the 149 may bed in some more with time.

I haven't read this whole thread but thought I'd throw in my favorite mechanical pencil model. It's a Pentel Technica-X, I've had it for about 13 years and thought they weren't made anymore until recently. I have the gray one. Retractable tip, .05 lead. I use mine a lot for drawing/sketching. My only complaint is it has a snap-on clip that I lost years ago.

Hey guys, another thing. I managed to snag and bend the clip on my Zebra 701, and while taking the clicky out to bend it back I noticed that (because the inside of the Zebra is plastic) the threads have been completely stripped. Is there anything I can do about this? It pretty much ruins the pen unless I force the clicky back in and glue it or something, and then if I snag the clip again I'm screwed.

In the interest of full disclosure, I don't own a Zebra F-701, but I thought the claim for it was:

    Professional Grade
Designer stainless steel from tip to clip. The barrel is entirely made from stainless steel allowing it to withstand extreme conditions. The easy-to-hold knurled metal grip provides writing stability.

Does yours have a plastic internal sleeve?

I can't think of a way to fix it that:
    1. wouldn't cost more than the pen (unless you had everything on hand already)
    2. woudn't be weaker than the original threads.
    ATB,
    Sam

Nope to my knowledge they are all plastic on the inside. Kind of false advertising huh?

Can any of you folks give me a bit of feedback about the Rotring mechanical pencils? Maybe even how the 600 compares to the 800?

Well, there's an article which points out some of the differences over there (the admin-types have made an approved list of urls, and, since they didn't add the following - and why would they? - you'll have to read it to get the info for the url, where dots and slashes take the place of the symbols...): dmpencilsdotblogspotdotcomslash2012slash09slashrotring-600g-vs-800dothtml

Omitting the initial http:// and/or www. you can just copy and paste an URL:

I know for their NEW ballpoint RapidPro one review (clickypost.com/blog/2013/9/7/rotring-rapid-pro-ballpoint-pen-review ) showed them having plastic threads (argh). Seems the same lie as the Zebras to me.

Received my bronze writing tool from Maxmadco today,
    THANKS!

J.... sent it with a small pouch/pen holder.

The nicest gesture was the tissue he provided to wipe my tears of joy!
