SOYCD is a respected member of the candlepowerforum community. His avatar is very similar to your Pink Floyd/Dark side of the moon image. I was just asking if you were 'he'.

Similar to something I've seen elsewhere; what's the metal in the bits like, soft or hardened (are the bits likely to be chewed up with use)?

Testing some inexpensive gel pen options.

For writing I think my favorit is the UNI-BALL Signo 307. Light and sleek looking. The Pentel Energel is really good for sketching and taking notes.

I really like the Machine Era original brass pen. It's just so solid, heavy enough, zero tip wiggle. I've had mine about two weeks, it's starting to darken up a little. I don't do a whole lot of writing.

I like Machine Era's stuff...not a fan of the original due to no clip & having to unscrew a cap (at least their cap will post, though), so I got the Compact Field Pen in stainless. Takes D1 refills, so I'm using Schmidt Easy Flow refills in it. It's a perfect fit in left front pocket of my jeans or Dockers.

Yeah, this is a desk pen. The cap issue would be a :censored: carrying it around.

Well, that's not the original Original (Solid Brass Pen01), per se, since the first incarnation didn't have the 4 grooves in the barrel, but still... :D I suppose that, if not a lotta folks grabbed the first iteration, then it'd be more confusing to call attention to the idea that it's actually the new Coke, I mean, new Original, lol.

As an aside, I think Machine Era missed the boat a bit on their Field Pen by not making it Parker refill compatible. I love Space pen refills for extreme use, but for an everyday writer, I need a better writing refill. Pilot G2 refills are great writers for the price, but they make a pen too long, so that leaves....Parker compatible refills if you want a more compact pen.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks similarly... I was greatly disappointed when it did not support parker style... and I don't write upside down, so why pay the premium? ;-)
