Hi all, Hoping you guys can give me a hand/guide me towards buying a new EDC bag. A little background: I've been using the Herschel settlement for the past 10 years but I've just recently started work in the city and the bag is falling apart. I am looking for something that doesn't scream TACTICAL or ROB me, something that doesn't draw any attention. I am looking to carry: 1 x 13-15 inch laptop 1 x Blunt metro umbrella 1 x Jacket / coat 1 x EDC organizer for my lights knife etc 1 x Water bottle 1 x notepad and a small pencil case So a total volume of 20 to 25l should be sufficient, preferably something that's high quality, don't mind paying a bit more. Thanks
The axiom 24 from Triple Aught Design is fantastic,I had one for 6 months now and it's the best pack I have owned by a far stretch..and I have had many..great quality, understated, excellent organisation and expandable platform with the organisers etc they sell..expensive but worth every penny..or dime... Crumpler Director's Cut Office Bag / Director's Cut 13 depending on how big that laptop is. I really need to test whether the Director's Cut 13 fits a Retina 15 , I suspect it might, I already know it fits some 14" ThinkPads and it's only 0.4" from there to the MBP. I will, once I actually get mine but it's in Europe, I couldn't be bothered to get it sent to Canada when I will be across the pond in two weeks anyways. The Director's Cut 13 fits most airlines personal item size.
Peak Design makes some interesting stuff. I've become a fan boy recently, having purchased a 5L sling, 2 Tech Bags, a pouch, and a camera strap, wristlet, camera clutch and a capture clip that mounts on any bag.. All their straps and accessories use a clever rapid detachment mechanism that is portable. So, I can use the same strap on my camera as on my binoculars. I say all this because they have released V2 of their Everyday Backpacks (20L and 30L). They also make smaller "everyday backpack zip" models. I've found Peak to produce thoughtfully-designed products. They primarily support photography, of course, but their backpacks can be re-configured in numerous ways. I've asked for the EveryDay backpack V2 for Christmas . They are not tactical-looking at all.
I’ve had the 20L Everyday Backpack for three years today, it’s been my EDC every day of those three years. Very happy Dan
Osprey EDC series, non-tactical, different size (16 liters - 30 liters), multiple color options: DayPack (Plus), Axis, Quasar, etc.
