I have one of the larger cocoons and one thing I noticed...I use mine in my briefcase and a lot of the heavier items have a tendency to shift down to the bottom when I am carrying it. The elastic straps don't hold the heavier items tight enough and they slip. Not a big deal if you use it with small items. Anyway, FYI in case that makes a difference in what you will be carrying.

mine is mostly for chargers for my netbook, phone, usb cable for data xferr, thumb drives, etc....what type of "heavy" objects are you using that are sliding out? maybe you could modify some of the straps to have a sort of pocket at the bottom so they tuck in and don't move (unless it's held upside down)? i'm thinking something removable like zip ties or something like that...

Yeah, I think a bit of modding is in order. I do have a pocket camcorder (Vado), Leatherman Squirt, battery holders and such that seem to work their way down to the end. I am thinking about maybe using some velcro straps or something similar.

Dude, that looks sweet! Can you post any more pics, say of the other side and the interior? Maybe some details on the materials and assembly? I'm thinking about trying to make a double belt sheath for my knife and multitool out of leather and could use some pointers and ideas.

if you can't tell, it's sort of like a netbook sleeve, but it's a clamshell. one side is the sleeve, the other is a sleeve to put the grid-it (included) in, and the inside of the clamshell is an organizer for notepad, pens, etc. it's a pretty nice setup. consolidates my grid it for my cables, thumb drives, chargers, etc...and my netbook sleeve into one item. isn't very big either. will fit in my backpack, or i can carry it on the strap. manpurse FTW!

Looks like a great way to change bags quickly as a 'Drop-in', did you get it from the company that makes the Grid-it ?

I posted this in another thread.... but how many of you with the Maxpedition EDC are kind of overstuffing it? From the looks of it, there are quite a few loading it up like me.
