i thought it would be fun to see what others have come up with in this area. feel free to post your pixs...

i have all sorts of kits everywhere (BOB, saddlebag survival gear, vehicle kits, et al) but the number one most important kit i carry is the one with me 24/7 that fits in my front pants pocket. the "pouch" method i use works way better than having a pile of stuff floating around at the bottom of the front pocket of my jeans, and way more comfortable than a keychain kit (yes, i have those too).

over the years i've built a number of them depending on expected need.

i have rural kits, wilderness kits, handgun kits, low-cost cheapies, high-end titanium versions, PC-city kits, construction work kits, etc.

they don't cost a thing, i just sew them up using scrap leather.

here are examples of some i've carried over the years:

    Nice work!
I've thought of doing something like that, glad to see it'll work out!

Very nice! I did something vaguely reminiscent of this with some 2" black elastic and a stapler...

I love the leather and the appropriately thin gear that you've used.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get that awesome capsule lighter?

I think I can remember seeing that (or something like it) on here. Did it hold up? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

its a standard Peanut lighter inside a custom titanium capsule, made by one of our own members here at EDCF, DeanJ.
he sold a limited edition of 100 in 2007-08 but i don't believe he's selling them anymore.
while costly, it was worth every penny!

    here were his original specs:

    "Titanium Backup Lighter"

    Material: 6AL-4V Titanium
Finish: Raw or Satin or Tumbled finish
    Exterior Dimensions: 2.19” x 0.56”
    Internal Diameter: 0.44”
    Lanyard Hole: 0.33” x 0.28” (at widest)
Weight: 0.5 ounce (empty) 0.8 ounce (with lighter and fuel)

click here to see where he offered them at CPF back then.

    William Henry T09 CF

they are long out of production but i believe Leadfoot has a few available in all sorts of different finishes, etc.
he's where i bought mine. he has dozens of WH, many more than are in his ads. get a hold of him and ask.
here's one of his old FS ads over at BF that i happen to bookmark: Leadfoot's William Henry Folders For Sale

Here's a link to the beastly thing. It's actually held up fine and the staples don't really show any signs of loosening.

I would strongly recommend it. The roll of elastic cost like $2 at Walmart and it's drastically reduced my pocket wad. It literally took less than five minutes to make at lunch one day. If nothing else, it gives you some ideas for constructing a real pocket orgnaizer like coyote has posted here.

As an alternate construction method, the elastic could be secured to a HDPE or thin Kydex backing and two rows could be used, one above the other.

Love it. Those combos are firing off the pleasure neurons in about 3 different spots in my brain.
