Is there anyone out there that has made a checklist of what different levels of EDC would include? I.E. what to keep in your pockets/on your person, what is in your backpack/messenger bag, etc.?

    I'll start:

    On your Person:
    -Keys
    -SAK or small multi-tool
    -defensive fixed or folding blade
    -Cell phone
    -Wallet with ID, cash, etc.
    -ferro rod
    -pen
    -small flashlight
-CCW handgun and spare magazine(s) (if applicable)

    In your Pack:
    -Paracord (20 feet)
    -larger multi-tool
    -Laptop (if applicable)
-chargers for electronics/spare batteries (if applicable)
    -note pad
    -pencil
    -pen
    -sharpie
    -two chem-lights
    -large flashlight
    -FAK
-the all-important snacks (energy bars, five-hour energy)
    -water bottle
-water purification tablets or compact filter/purifier (I use a steri-pen)
    -Spare ammo for CCW
    -pocket sharpener

Feel free to suggest additions, subtractions, etc.

    Thanks

I think it is really impossible to do.

People carry things for different reasons, in different climates, different terrains, different occupations, different activities, urban, rural, and the list goes on an on.

I will have things not on your list and somethings on your list I would not have with me at all. We all have too many differences in my opinion but I am very glad we are all different.

I like the idea of a basic list. I think we will see a lot of overlap, and a base set of items come out.

    In my person
    • ASP Street Defender Pepper Spray Keychain with keys and photon light
    • Either my old single cell SureFire or Streamlight Stylus pro flashlight
    • Spyderco Native, or CRKT M-16 folder
    • Wallet with a small credit card sized multi-tool
    • ID Lanyard made out of Para-cord containing RSA Secure ID, Photon Light, small key-like multi-tool
    • National Geographic self winding watch
    • Tactical Pen/Kubaton
    • brass challenge coin (Full Armor of God)
    • Droid-X Smart Phone

You can click on the links in my sig for my various EDC bag configurations.

I think the lists would be nice, especially for us folks that are newer to the EDC concept. Perhaps lists for "Urban" and "non-Urban" EDC, just to get some ideas and common items.

My EDC has evolved over time, based on need, not forethought or lists. When I got tired of not carrying a pen, or losing pens from various pockets, then I added a pen to my keychain. When I eventually found a keychain light that was as good or better than the larger flashlight on my belt, then I stopped carrying the belt light.

My general EDC. I don't pocket carry, it comes with me in my bag that I take everywhere with me. When without the bag, I take the key ring, watch and my ipod touch with ID and money...and usually the dog. I consider this to be an "urban" EDC. When camping I have another batch of stuff that I take along, but only for that.

    Key Ring:
    Leather Key Fob
    Streamlight Nano Keychain Flashlight, Black
    Fox 40 Mini Whistle
    Keys

    Tool Ring:
Fisher Space Pen, Trekker, Matte Black
    Leatherman Micra
    Pico Widgy Prybar
    Uncle Bill's Tweezers
    Mini Screwdriver Set (eyeglass sized)

    Pencil Pouch:
Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black Flashlight
    Benadril Pen (Bug Bites)
    Stainless Sharpie
    Burts Bees Chapstick

    Eyeglass Case:
    Clip-on Sunshades
    Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

    Bag:
Spyderco Ladybug Knife, Purple with purple paracord lanyard
    Moleskine Notebook
    Magnifier Menu Reader
    Bandana
    Business Card Holder
    Hand sanitizer
    Tape Measure
Ipod Touch w/stylus and Fisher Space Pen Bullet - Purple Passion
    Blackberry Style, purple
    Kleenex
    Leather Wallet
    Leather Checkbook
    Folding Brush, Purple
FAK: bandaids, TUMS, Tylenol, Neosporin (a purple bag with clear front to see inside without opening the bag)

    Wrist:
    Accutron Chronograph Watch

This is my pocket dump today, I forgot my watch in this photo.... All of these items can also go into my Max-P Lunada. Like indigo, I have my bag with me. Sometimes though, when at work, I can't have it with me.

Note that I am not using my Max-P wallet. I have a case on my driod-x that will hold ID and debit card. Cash is in my pocket and bag.

I printed out a table with several different Jumbo Versipack loadouts depending on where I'm going. For example, I normally carry an assortment of sharp things and occasionally a firearm. When I travel to another state with different laws or travel by air, I know to remove certain items, but I often run it against my checklist to make sure I haven't missed anything.

My maximum load consists of the following (though I rarely EDC it like that since it's so heavy):

    - XD-45 w/2 extra mags
    - Sunglasses case
    - Coleman Max LED
    - Camelbak 1L
    - Lensatic Compass
    - Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp
    - Odwalla / Cliff bar
    - Anti-bac spray
    - Gerber Infinity Ultra LED
    - Gerber MP600 multitool
    - Tissues
    - Small FAK
    - Eye drops
    - Notepad
    - Pen, Sharpie
    - Earplugs
    - Dental floss
    - OTC meds
    - Nikon D50 w/28-70mm
    - Boonie hat
    - MP3 player, w/ear buds
    - NanoSTRIKER w/firestarting aids
    - 25' of 550 cord
    - $20-bill

Redundant Redundant thread. Too subjective. I don't carry a flashlight or a cellphone. I like pictures.

I don't think there is such thing as an EDC concept. It has been done since man started using tools and is different for different people depending on their situation.
