I am looking for something that is made of a nice, hard, durable plastic and is just a little bit bigger than an altoids tin. This is for a bike repair kit. I dont want metal, and if the plastic is see through that's ideal but not mandatory. Anything out there you can recommend? This will hold miscellaneous bits like extra brake pads, chain links, screws, deraileur hanger, shoe cleats, etc...

Anything out there exist like this?

Sistema makes lots of sizes of plastic storage containers. All with gaskets, see through, and lightweight. Waterproof(ish) and durable/crush resistant. The hinged closure arms are bulky (especially on the smaller containers) but always stay closed in my experience.

There are a few different options out there Ali Express has some if you look up plastic card cases or containers. Plus if you do just a general search on google it shoulds that too.

    Peace

I have been using a couple of travel soap holders for years (for soap). I used one as a hiking first aid kit once in a pinch. They might work for you. I believe that Goody still sells them.[IMG]

I saw a small plastic first aid kit for $1.00 at WalMart that had a clasp on the front to keep it closed.

Container Store has a series of plastic hinged clear containers in sizes from tiny pill box to much larger than an Altoids tin.

Pelican makes an entire line of micro cases. You can get them in a variety of colors with and without clear lids. Super tough and waterproof.

Go to Target/Walmart and get a travel pack of Q-tips for $1. The case may not be indestructible, but the price is hard to beat.

I use these to carry waterproof matches. Hard flat and takes up very little space.

Now that you mention it, Walmart also sells a personal FAK by J&J that is plastic; I think it may be $2 or $3. And you get a starter supply of band aids, single packet ointments, etc., with it... I've picked up a couple of these and adapted them to FAK for edc bags and briefcases. Form factor is a bit bulkier though than Altoids box.

    L'chaim!

Plano has some good ones at reasonable prices, but I believe the smallest they have is more than double the size of an altoids tin
