Monocrom, Thankyou for that. I concur as I said I asked around off forum and was told something so similar it was scary. I will have to break my word and buy other knives before Strider; because I will never give them another penny.

To the OP, I apologize for hi jacking your post. I learned and now I'll not foul this up any more.

You're welcome. To be honest, I hate delivering such news. But it is what it is. If someone wants to know the truth about a particular subject, and I can shed light on it, I do.

Mr. Pelton has stated that changing the scale will void warranty because it is not a factory part. I own a Hest/F 2.0, had the first run sterile, rowen hest. Just traded my heft4 assault for ZT0550. They are great knives backed by a great company. RYP stands behind his products.

I stumbled across that a while back and couldn't make any sense of it; you have a non-gossipy Cole's notes summary?

I've been feeling the same for awhile now. Pelton said/did some pretty crazy things... I just really like the designs. I may buy used just so I can say I didn't give him any money directly but what ever.;) If someone makes an excellent product people are going to buy it... No matter what the maker/owner does. Just look at most rockstars. Pretty much scum of the Earth but people love them anyway.

There were/are a bunch of cry babies on that forum. Whiners all whining about delivery dates & mods that are a little too sensitive.

My appologies for previous text that needed to be edited by sakplumber

I did actually purchase a lightly used DPX HEST 2.0 since I posted that. After playing with it, I promptly put it back on eBay and sold it for slightly more than I paid. The problem? It had a sticky lock bar, which is a problem the 2.0 is known for. I also saw early signs of lock bar wear. Lion Steel addressed that in their titanium folders by incorporating a replaceable stainless steel cap on the end of the lock bar to prevent wear to the titanium. The 2.0 doesn't have that.

I'm on my second HEST 2.0 folder. I bought the first new and carried it awhile and it worked pretty well. I really liked the pocket catch opener. I decided to sell it when I found the BM Triage 915.

Back around February I bought a lightly used HEST for a weekend/beater knife. It showed hardly any sign of use or carry when I got it. It took a little time, but I thinned the edge and it's a real cutter. I haven't seen any wear or sticking, but as a weekend/occasional knife I haven't carried or used it that much.

I've got a gen 1 HEST, it's quite good, not fantastic, but it's a decent knife.
I have none of the problems that plagued the early versions though.
It cuts well and sits deep in my pocket, plus the pocket snag is very effective.
It doesn't get carried that often though, it had the misfortune to arrive the same day as my new Sebenza...

Here's a few new shots of my HEST 2.0 with a natural canvas Cuscadi Scale and the DPx alternate pocket clip. I plan to anodize the titanium side here when I get some more time (Hat tip to Vesp).

The clip is designed to add additional pressure to the lock bar which it does, but it doesn't appear to add that much.

I have the 2.0 version and I like it for a hard use knife. I also love how you can hook the bottle opener on your pocket to open the knife as it comes out of your pocket.

I like it. Looks nice. I'd like to hear more elaboration on the single spoke RotoBlock, though. Newly redesigned but no description.
