Does anyone else have a "MacGyver kit"? I don't necessarily edc it, but I do take it on trips and things. It's basically a box of pieces and parts for "MacGyvering" things. If there's interest I'll break it down and show the contents.

I sort of have one. I keep some things like that in a Maxpedition organizer.

I'll break it down in a day or so and take photos of everything. I've recently outgrown my altoids tin so I'm still tweaking the contents. I've been wanting to add new items but I haven't had a suitable container. Now that I've found one I can put in some more things.

I carry some things like that - some EDC, some not. I'll post them later this week. Looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table!

I have a survival kit in my GO bag and my Pouch, neither of which I carry everywhere, but instead specific places or when I go out of town. My GO bag also has a FAK.

Both Survival kit and FAK are in Maxpediton x3 zippered pouches.

I also have somewhat of a survival kit for the truck. Lighters, matches, paracoard, fishing line, hooks, sinkers, pack of crayons, shot gun shell or 2. And a bunch of other stuff that could be used in a survival situation

Used to but don't EDC anymore as van is full of goodies. An aluminium case with super glue, cable ties, epoxy putty, gorilla tape, and baking soda (accelerant for the SG). It's hard to know when to stop as there are so many things that "could" come in handy, but therein lies the rub - the kit gets so big I don't carry it on my person. But wasn't the essence of McGyver that he only had a SAK and improvised with what he could scavange from the local environment? If he had lugged a fully stocked box around with him it would have been a pretty boring show, non?

A proper McGyver kit would be the SAK and a paperclip lol

The container is actually the packaging from a true utility tool of some sort. I got it at Dicks Sporting Goods a while back.

Most guys here probably do. The thing about MacGyver was he didn't carry a bunch of stuff. I seem to recall him saying "I like to stay loose, keep an open mind."

Beyond a SAK, watch, and sunglasses, I remember seeing a book of matches, duct tape, and 50ยข pieces at times.
