Hi guys, i know football (soccer) comes probably 4th on the USA's fav sports list behind American football, base ball and basket ball but i think the rest of the world is really supprised how well the USA have done. This is the biggest sporting event held around the world and if America beat Ghana tonight they make it to the quater finals! I think all Americans should really embrace the team and the game after this world cup because just getting out of the group stages is a massive achievement (just look at France and Italy) so good luck tonight guys, and 'COME ON ENGLAND!'

It's not as if my world is/will change because of it.

    Is it cool? Hell yes.
Do I Care? on varying levels.

I think it's pretty cool. Any team that works as hard as they do and represents my country in a good way deserves much respect.

It's actually more like 6th favorite...behind NASCAR (argue all you like as to whether it's a "sport") and Hockey.

I think it's building momentum with each good showing internationally and as more and more kids get into soccer and the infrastructure builds it can become a regular favorite as opposed to a 4 year phenomena.

Well it's a good thing you didn't care too much then isn't it? :D

I thought it was a good match actually, :censored: site more exciting than the SK & Uruguay game earlier... that was dull to watch. USA is good at most sports and it's good that the infrastructure of the country is set up that way.

    Looking forward to tomorrow anyway.

I've never cared much for sports of any kind... I'm a player, & I can't stand just being a spectator.

The ball-kicking game is not a sport. Hunting, shooting and fishing are sports - everything else is just games.

    No.

Ask the average American to name even one player on the American team. No clue!

I heard we have an awesome Goal-Keeper. Have no clue what his name is.

I don't think if it would even be as high as 6th. I would think tennis & golf would be higher rated than soccer. As to the question, yes it's kind of cool to see the team doing so well. But no I don't think most of us really care.

I care, but only because this year I'm backing Japan (for my own safety).

If you offered me $1000.00 for any player in any sport currently playing, not sure I would know. (Tiger Woods but only from his off course work with under-privileged girls) Many years the world series is half over before I know it's on.

I heard we made the quarter finals and that 1-0 was an exciting game.

Judging by today's performance it didn't look like the England team themselves would be bothered if they had progressed further.
We deserved a kicking, and got one!

This is me 100%. Never understood the passion people have for watching people play a game? Their involvement means squat to the player except to fund a major money maker.

I love to *actually* play sports though.

Yup. But it was a 90-minute game. Boring as Hell for the first 89 minutes, but the last minute was exciting. Doesn't make up for the first 89 though.

I dont really like watching any sports but I love playing many. I do like watching my local hockey team (Canes) and the Stanley cup playoffs. No I care nothing about soccer or how our team does, but if they positively reflect the US than thats good.

I was listening to sports-talk radio when the U.S. team lost. They were talking about baseball and free-agent basketball, stopped for a second, said "The U.S. just lost to Ghana in the World Cup", and then that was it. Nobody called wanting to talk about it. For me, sure it would have been cool if they had won, but nowhere near how great it was to see a Superbowl win, 6 NBA titles, a World Series win (White Sox, thankfully not the Cubs), and a Stanley Cup, in that order. It's true that the Chicago Fire have won a MLS title, maybe even a second, but I'm not sure how many or when it or they were. The rest of the world loves it, and they can have it.
