I've considered the Ghost. I like the look of the DragonEgg with the thick grommits on the side but I've eyed the Ghost a bit. The waist belt is better but it loses the paracord drag handle and that front pouch being 'detachable' I sometimes wonder if it'd get loose or lost. How much/what'd you carry in your Dragon Egg, that you felt the need to upgrade to the Ghost (If you don't mind me asking) Trying to guage the size and all. The two are pretty close in cost, so if I were to get one, I wanna get the right one for me.
I could be wrong, but there is NO WAY I could get 3 of the 15" MBP I tried to fit in the Dust. Maybe the Dragon Egg or the Ghost would work due to their larger frame sheet, but the Dust is a no go on the 15" MBP.
No problem at all, I have an office, but spend a great deal of time working out of my car. By the end of the day the Dragon Egg was packed to the gills. Between work items, gym clothes, an iPad and a laptop I was carrying stuff out the door in my arms. Having the extra room has been a blessing. I keep a med kit, portable solar charger, a quick change of clothes in a ranger roll, Plus the beaver tail catches all of my loose stuff, like gym shoes and a jacket if I need it. One of my coworkers has my dragon egg now and loves it. I just carry too much junk around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ahh thank you. I wouldn't be carrying extra shoes and jackets and stuff on top of my EDC. So I'll probably go Dragon's Egg.
YAY! Not only did my Dust arrive last night but my 15" MacBook Pro slides in easily as advertised into the laptop sleeve, and the stretch keeper strap is long enough to secure it tightly. The larger MBP flattens the pack a bit because its uses up the pack's full lateral dimension. This is fine with me because my plan was to carry a more tailored than bulky pack, and this will keep me from overloading it. Its use will be as a commuter bag during weekdays and daypack on weekends. The construction on this bag is excellent, and the design is intriguing. The interior admin section is not as well designed as I would have liked - the map case should have been a snap-in/out item, and the pockets behind the pen slots are too short to carry anything useful. One deeper slot is bette that two short ones, but these are minor nits. This is a really well made bag. By the way, if you're looking to buy one, buy yours direct from DA, and watch for online coupons - I got 20% off and free shipping for Veterans Day! Thanks Durandal64 for a really helpful review.
Well I'll be hornswoggled. I must be the worst tester in the whole world. Fits like a glove once you stop being a moron and make it work.
I've been using this bag everyday since I got it in October 2015. So far, my only real gripe is that my business got me a 15" MBP, and while it does fit, the 13" one I had fit better. I still use my Timbuk2 Alchemist on specific days that I have client meetings, but otherwise the Dust is my constant companion.
