We are still getting hit but the server has managed to stay up. If it goes down this is why. I am next going to be talking to their office in the Philippines and if we are still at risk of crashing I will try and contact their office in Japan.

    got

I actually have those messages forwarded to gmail. I turned forwording off. It got to be eaiser haveing as many of my messages go to one spot. I fell asleep at the computer. I am thinking of just letting them label us a malware site.

I am kind of surprised the forum has not has not gone down more often than it has.

I did filter but I am pretty sure I got things caught in it that should not have been.

I have blocked anything and everything I could find related to this.

If we don't have anymore crashes or near crashes I will lock this away. If and when we show up on their malware list I will just have to explain it.

I am becoming anti Trend Micro.

From someone else that got hit by this.

Why is Trend Micro spending so much time and my bandwidth scanning my website?

i have robots.txt to disallow all but my website is constantly being scanned by IP addresses originating from Trend Micro both in California and Japan.

i host a vbulletin message board and the Trend Micro bots are constantly trying to use it to do things. I have blocked the IP addresses from using my board, but i cant block them from pinging my site.

please stop if before I have to find some other remedy

I didnt want to post screenshots of the IP results or from the forums own "whos online" section in case it was an actual person visiting the forum.....but when i see in my whos online it shows an entry for an IP address attempting to read personal messages in members inbox (but still not getting access) or it shows the bots trying to create a thread or viewing a members information.

since i added a robots.txt i no longer see activity from yahoo, google etc but the trend micro activity seems scary almost as if its trying to brute force access to my website.

    And another person.

    Hi

Trend micro was currently hammering our site last night - causing all sorts of database errors and connection issues.

Please can you explain what it is your are scanning for and why you think you have the right to do this ?

    Thanks

    Alex

Hmmm...I'm a computer illiterate about this level of stuff but I wonder if Trend Micro
is working with some semi-secret government agency. Sounds pretty intrusive. Trying
    to read members' email boxes?

    Nasty. That's a no-no.

I am going to seek out every IP I can find that they use and block them at the server level.

I was a bit horrified when I started seeing how invasive they are.

Did you filter with the Vbulletin's email address in the "if received from" section?
