I like when people do that tread pattern, and drill holes through and fill-also seems easier and you wouldn't have to worry about taping things off too much.

Weren't you saying earlier that you didn't really have a place to use a dremel? Cause I was just about to suggest it-it makes it a million times easier... for shaping-I mean. If not, the hand files are great-but diamond files-not so much. You'll need at least a round file (I like half round), and preferably a triangle file to notch the starting locations.

Metro gave me some good tips-the triangle file notch being one, and the other is to use your dominant hand for the gripping and pushing/pulling and the non-dominant pointer finger to guide.

I have a rotary tool, just not a good place to use it. I actually figured out that the triangle file made good starter notches on my own (I was originally going to use triangle patterns to be different, but the angle wasn't wide enough to be pronounced and I switched to a half round). I might pick up a non-diamond set. It does seem like a regular file would be more efficient on G10.

The great thing about the nano is it's small, one side g10, and also-it's small ;) Idk about that curvature though...don't know if you'd need a different width...prob not tho

Yeah, a round file is prob best for the common "anso" pattern. Plus the longer files give you more efficient strokes, and imho less unnecessary spaz tactics that would mess up things (my problem).

Yeah I could probably get a big one scale and use that. Such a waste. But it'll be worth it. Plus I'm going to screw up for sure. I just have to replace my drill press first :(

I hate living in an apartment complex. No room for any decent tool usage :(

The scales I'm working on are from a Skyline. I found it on clearance at Walmart for 17.48. It was too awesome to pass up. :)

Yeah-I remember now. But the regular round file should be alright. Actually, I started practicing on just different files on some scrap blocks of wood to get a feel for the patterns.
